Last time was really, really fun! I met a lot of devs I have known online for a while but didn't even imagine they were in India or would visit an event in my city :D

I think it's the closest India got to our own little fosdem :blobcatopenmouth:

The CFP deadline for the AOSP devroom at #IndiaFOSS 2026 has been extended by two weeks and will now close on 28 June 2026 (Sunday). Looking forward to your submissions!

@vindo I'll also probably be at #TOSSConf in Chennai (soon after PravConf) and then #IndiaFOSS of course. Not sure about anything in between, it's been a very conferenceful few months and I need to set aside some time to focus on work 🙃

But in all seriousness, more conferences are starting to steal our #FOSDEM devroom concept and it's working really well for them; e.g. #IndiaFOSS did so quite successfully last year. Never been at #emf #emfcamp so I don't know the programme and space availability, of course.

Gonna be niche, but I'd like to see more FOSS services self hosted and make it use by broader community together.

(just like discourse and jitsi we've)

But more I think about it I just feel it becomes another hard thing to cling on in practice.

- Big picture is, make other Orgs or community to self host services on their own.

After more thoughts I just feel like we don't have that many audience to implement or make use of it :(

Generally, #IndiaFOSS impressed me. It was the right mix of chaos and organization; the crowd was very engaged.

I gave a talk about #FOSDEM and I had uncounted conversations about FOSDEM, OSS, and how to apply its principles afterwards.

I do start feeling like an old these days. I mentioned to someone that I was first in #India in 2006 and someone commented were like "yeah, he wasn't alive then". Brutal.

But good crowd.

Landing in #bangalore / # begaluru a few days ago for #IndiaFOSS, I saw a toilet attendant who had "NO TIPS PLEASE" stitched onto his uniform in huge letters.

I'd love to understand the reasoning process behind this. I'd have given him a tip out of principle if I had any cash on me at that time.
