  1. A nice guided walkthrough by Tudor Girba of using Glamorous Toolkit for problem exploration. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssEo... #gtoolkit

  2. Moldable Development is a new way of programming in which you build custom tools for each problem to make your software systems explainable. But how do you teach moldable development?

  3. CW: Debuggable explanations

@gvwilson @judell The best infrastructure I have seen so far for supporting debuggable explanations is #GToolkit (gtoolkit.com/). This recorded keynote talk is a good demonstration: youtube.com/watch?v=jJhfTUSDlR

  4. @temporal I did consider Emacs of course. I could indeed do the Wiki part, and embedding code into text. But in #GToolkit, I can also build GUIs that permit inspection of my data structures. I wouldn't want to display a DAG in an Emacs buffer!

  5. @temporal I learned a lot about Smalltalk and its history since I started using #Pharo and #GToolkit. There are so many basic but nonobvious ideas that shaped those systems. For example the idea that "code comes in snippets". Why do Lepiter pages consist of snippets, rather than character streams as everywhere else? For me it's the Smalltalk heritage.

  6. @temporal In Smalltalk, the mouse comes first and the keyboard is seen mainly as a text entry device. #GToolkit has inherited this tradition.

  7. @temporal Another role that #GToolkit has for me is "lightweight API layer" for Web services. Example: github.com/khinsen/GT-Zotero. It's quite straightforward to build first an API Interface and then personal tools for working with it. Often on the fly, as a question arises.

  8. My first non-trivial Leibniz context written as a Lepiter page in #GToolkit. Everything in blue is code in a specification language. There will be GUIs to work on those My computational medium for science is taking shape!

  9. @temporal Sounds good :-) This was my first impression as well, when looking at #GToolkit after two decades of Emacs. Two years later, keyboard orientation matters less for me than it did. There is so much GUI in GToolkit that 100% keyboard navigation seems impossible.

  10. Just wow: TiddlyWikiPharo is @Tiddlywiki implemented in @pharoproject & #GToolKit.

  11. RT @[email protected] My first small @[email protected] package based on #gtoolkit is out! It implements multi-page wikis for use in documentation. t.co/Rht2hmnwVa

  12. RT @[email protected] At #PharoDays ⁦@maenuleu⁩@twitter.com shows gradual typing in #Pharo using a modern looking #gtoolkit theme.

  13. RT @[email protected] At #PharoDays ⁦@Chis_Andrei⁩@twitter.com exemplifies example-driven development using #gtoolkit

  14. RT @[email protected] On Thursday-Friday, we will be at #PharoDays, the coolest #Pharo gathering of the year. We’ll be showing the latest #gtoolkit, give a hands-on tutorial on #MoldableDevelopment, and provide an overview of the latest support for #ExampleDrivenDevelopment.

  15. RT @[email protected] On May 3, I’ll be giving a "Moldable development with Glamorous Toolkit" workshop near Lausanne.

What do we mean by #MoldableDevelopment? To craft a tool for every problem. Not just a test. A whole tool. And #gtoolkit makes this possible.

  16. RT @[email protected] Why are all UIs flat nowadays? Stylized 3D still works fine on high-res displays #Pharo #gtoolkit

  17. RT @[email protected] #LANDS, Day3, Captain's Log: Disambiguating our parsing forest, using the recursive choice operators of MOGs ! Oh.. while embedding the tree inline in the document. Compare lively with the forest on the right (#morphic black-magic, #roassal, #gtoolkit and @[email protected] inside) t.co/ObjpY1a9lT

  18. RT @[email protected] JSON with syntax highlighting is nice, but the #gtoolkit Inspector reminds us that JSON is data by offering a quick button to parse and show the resulting arrays and dictionaries. t.co/KjMGoa8U0Q

  19. RT @[email protected] Working on the XML support in #gtoolkit based on the nice work on Monty and the #Pharo community.

  20. RT @[email protected] Nowadays I give multiple #gtoolkit demos a week (if you are interested in one, contact me), and people ask why did we implement it in Pharo. It’s quite simple really: it’s both beautiful and a competitive advantage that most other people and companies choose to ignore.

  21. RT @[email protected] #MoldableDevelopment: Mold your environment to match your system. Take a look at a story of how we use custom tools to drive the development of Releaser, the #gtoolkit component responsible for releasing deeply nested projects. t.co/pisfL89KQo t.co/NaiD2ig2Vv

  22. RT @[email protected] I am thinking about implementing a theme for #Pharo and #GToolkit based on System 6 (grew up with an SE30), but with high-res fonts and colors where useful. Would anybody else like to have that? @feenkcom
