I have started reading 'The Uncensored Picture of Dorian Gray', and I am already finding the preface very interesting. I haven't thought much about the term 'Victorianism' before now.
It's fascinating to learn how the original (uncensored) version was changed before publication and why. In light of the current trend of removing queer experiences from public life including published books, it's fascinating to understand how it was done in the past.

Tatsächlich habe ich nur eine grobe Richtschnur, die mein Leseverhalten außerhalb des akademischen Kontexts bestimmt. Sie besagt, dass mehr als zwei Drittel der Bücher, die ich lese, Fiction sein müssen. Ich lese im Job ohnehin schon zu viele Sachbücher und in meiner Freizeit soll Lesen vornehmlich Freude bereiten. Da ich aber dazu neige, auch Sachbücher in meiner Freizeit spannend und relevant zu finden, muss ich mich ein bisschen disziplinieren.

Discussing the book "Ace: What Asexuality Reveals about Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex" with a group of queer people, many of whom are asexual, in our queer book club is a really special experience.

Ein kurzes Update: Ich musste zwei der gedruckten Bücher rausnehmen, weil die gerade einfach nicht in mein Leben passen. Außerdem kam meine Vormerkung für ein Buch gestern an und hat entscheiden, welches der zwei potenziellen Bücher für die Kategorie Ozean, Klima & Natur ich lesen werde. #FuzzyReading #QSRC

There's a book I want to read, but I think it's too intense and might disturb and trigger me. I'm contemplating whether to not read it at all, get someone else to read it along with me, or read it alone anyway.

Dass Naivität in unserer Gesellschaft meist ausschließlich negativ besetzt ist, hat mich ja schon immer gewundert.

Oh, and as an academic myself: What on earth is this book, The Love Hypothesis? Ewwwww! The idea of any of this happening in real life, which it absolutely does, made me feel sick. I'm glad it's fiction, and I'm glad people enjoy their fantasies. It's just that I know people who have endured advances like this, and reading about it in such a romanticised way really repulsed me. #FuzzyReading
