“EchoSpoofing” — A Massive Phishing Campaign Exploiting Proofpoint’s #Email Protection to Dispatch Millions of Perfectly Spoofed Emails

By abusing a permissive configuration in #Proofpoint, a sophisticated campaign allowed attackers to successful send millions of properly signed and authenticated emails that appeared to be from well-known brands.

These emails contained #phishing links primarily aimed at stealing credit card information.
