Had some time off work today, continuing on with making editable palettes in #Crispnes. It’s coming along!

@pixel_dailies prompt was Metroid. Made on a 16x16 canvas using https://offthebooks.games/crispnes
PD #130

That leaves these that were on the original list remaining:
- configurable palettes
- project format for backup
- multiple export optionsThey’re each a bit more involved, but I think they’re all still important for getting a better workflow for what I'm trying to do with #Crispnes.

Revisiting my #Crispnes “todos” from 46 days ago, I've finished:
- configurable sprite size
- multiple sprites/animations
- multilevel undo/redo
- save progress with web storage
- progressive web app offline support
- phone and tablet w/ stylus supportAnd these that weren't on the list:
- animation support and preview
- simplified toolbar UI
- frame tools/UI
- sprite sheet single animation export
- improved desktop support for modal views -
Anxieturkey wishes you a wonderful Thanksgiving making #PixelArt in your phone browser, and doing absolutely nothing else.
-
This was way more satisfying than how I usually spend 15 minutes on my phone.

Alright, this is fun. It can actually animate now. The two big things left are palette editing, and useful exports. Ignore the timer counting down to remind me to pick up dog food.

Just dropped new features to #Crispnes!
It’s a misnomer, but create multiple (single frame) “animations.” Choose a size for new animations up to 256x256, name them, and delete them.
Saving a png of the current frame, now lets you choose the scale for your output (up to 3840 x 3840).
Your progress saves to IndexedDB in your browser. But there are likely bugs, because I’m moving fast, so save pngs or screenshot progress you’re happy with.

Made this on my phone with #Crispnes web-based pixel editor I’ve been tinkering on, which I finally just shared about this weekend. Here’s a thread with more if anybody is interested: https://mastodon.gamedev.place/@OffTheBooks/115395916652928679

Just used #crispnes to sketch out a first potential frame for a boss character I’ve had rattling around in my head for a bit. Here’s a preview of “Hawgrum”:

Undo/Redo is now working in #Crispnes, and I cleaned up some UI that wasn’t doing anything yet.
-
#Crispnes had already worked decently as a web app (Add to Home Screen), but I just added offline support. Whenever you’re online, it will load the latest from the server, but if you load without a connection, it will use the last files cached by the service worker.
This was supposed to be the easy todo item, but it took a few hours. I didn’t know anything about how to do this.

I would LOVE to see if you make something, even if you think it’s dumb. Please mention me or use #crispnes, and I can see all the tiny creations!
