Yesterday was also my first ride with a fully waxed chain (OEM drivetrain).
Quick notes:
FMD, such a mess trying to avoid making a mess, but that's another tale.🤦
Shifting started out clunky as the chain was stiff in spite of my flexing efforts, but improved somewhat.
After 40km of dusty firetrail, my chain's a bit dusty. 🤷 Remarkably clean.
I no longer see wax externally. Hopefully it's still internal.
I couldn't repeat poor shifts at home today.
It feels normal.

My new wax heater arrived, immediately raising a concern. Will I be *profeessional* enough? 🤔
I've happily used suspended wax "dry" chain lubricant on mtbs for years, & now I'm going full wax. I'll be soaking clean chains in hot wax, getting wax inside the rollers to lubricate without attracting dust or dirt, which turn into grinding paste.
Some say the faff is pointless, others are evangelists. I guess I'll find out. It's not costing me much 🤷
