Oh poor kid, what did they do to you?
This drive will donate its mechanism to the MegaloDOS drive I still have, which seems to have a mechanical issue on its Newtronics drive mech. I think these are the last two modded drives I will ever work on. I really don’t get these mods. MAYBE a device selector. But you usually don’t need to switch around drive numbers that often.

Anyway… someone sent me a 1541 board to repair. It is a „no boot“ case where motor keeps spinning. The first and most crucial error can be spotted visually! Even if it is difficult. You might wanna google a bit.

This is a Commodore 1541C ASSY 251854 Rev A mainboard. It is from a parts drive, where I took of the servo controller for a different drive, and where the read/write head is dead (typical Mitsumi).

Very interesting transformer on this one. It is missing the usual insulating tape. I guess it is not strictly necessary. But it also shows the thin wire on the primary, and the much chunkier windings on the secondary side.
