My quest to become the world’s top expert* on “rescue grass” (#Bromus catharticus catharticus) is on track, but I’m somewhat held back by the lack of people who can identify it from my photos.

It’s such a boring grass that nobody notices it and uploads a photo, much less identifies it.

Different grass grows at different speeds. If you cut your lawn on Sunday the rescue grass (#Bromus catharticus catharticus) would now be 5-10cm higher than the rest of your lawn and would likely be forming seed heads.

In comparison the paddock grass — which the National Party would sell their grand mothers for — is only 2-5cm taller than the rest of your lawn and has no seeds formed at the moment. It’s ugly and out of place on your lawn, but no seeds.
