Whatever happened to the 'British values' I was brought up on?
Things like playing fair (a metaphor for public and private life); rooting for and helping the underdog (especially by making things fair, mitigating unfair advantages etc); levelling down the proud and contemptuous mighty.
It seems like those British values have been insidiously sidelined since ... oh, .... the 1980s?

PSHRE was interesting today... got handed a booklet that listed #britishvalues. they were democracy, rule of law, liberty and respect.
NONE OF THOSE EXIST HERE!
No democracy because of FPTP and devolved bill blocking
No rule of law because politicians and police get away with crimes for years
No liberty because our rights to protest and strike are being curbed
No respect because of the vitriolic treatment of trans people and migrants -
