  1. The final three of seven poster presentations at #BOGS2026 are:
Does recent seagrass expansion increase carbon storage in an atoll environment?
Advancements in amino-acid hydroxyproline radiocarbon dating: post-LC cleanup protocols
Evaluating Orbitrap HRAM-MS for stable isotope incorporation analysis

I'm sorry to have missed the Meeting this year but I hope to attend #BOGS2027, wherever it is... updates to follow!

  2. As well as the oral presentations at #BOGS2026, there were a number of posters. Four of the seven presented are:
Removal of shrimp aquaculture antibiotics using a combined adsorption and electrochemical oxidation process
UK’37 is unaffected by IODP repository conditions
Predicting the evolution and fate of iron/organic carbon colloids (FeOCc) in natural waters
Chemical markers for tyre wear particles using pyrolysis-GC-MS

  3. Session 5: Reconstructing the Quaternary
Late Holocene vegetation dynamics and hydroclimatic changes in Al Ula (Saudi Arabia) from rock hyrax middens
Biomarker evidence for Southern Ocean-driven deglacial climate variability in the Falkland Islands
Changes in n-alkanes coincident with long-range industrial pollution and the end of the Little Ice Age in a Scottish upland corrie loch
The final presentations will be followed by closing remarks, prize giving and announcement of #BOGS2027

  4. On the second day of #BOGS2026, Session 4: Proxy Development II
Peatland climate feedbacks during warming intervals mediated by environmental change
Understanding microbe-mineral-organic interactions in Icelandic hot springs
The stable carbon and hydrogen isotopic compositions of microbial phospholipid fatty acids reveal contrasting carbon sources and metabolism across tropical peatlands and global environments

  5. Session 3: Proxy Development I
Inferring the ecology of brGMGT producers from intact polar lipids in peat
Eukaryotic microbial communities and fungal ecology in intertidal sediments: insights from lipid biomarkers and 18S rRNA metabarcoding

    Plenary Lecture
New frontiers in lipid residue analysis of archaeological pottery

  6. Session 2 - Reconstructing the Cenozoic & Mesozoic:
A pilot DNA extraction from Pacific Island sediments
Interpreting the environmental record by comparing Mg/Ca and TEX86H at high resolution: Solving the great debate?
Alkenone CO2 reconstructions consistent with > 1000 ppmv during the Early Eocene ‘Hothouse’
The Blackstone Band depositional sequence of the Upper Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay Formation in the Weald Basin: distribution and organic geochemistry

  7. Unfortunately, I cannot attend #BOGS2026 (bogs2026.wordpress.com/) this year. The Meeting is being hosted at Sheffield Hallam and I see that the first session (Remediation and Restoration) this morning includes presentations on:
Reactive Dye Removal using Integrated Adsorption and Electrochemical Oxidation
Spectroscopic analysis of soil organic matter in fen peatlands under contrasting restoration trajectories
Reconstructing River Pollution Histories using Riparian Vegetation

  8. BOGS 2025 is over. Prizes have been given for the Archie Douglas Award best oral presentation and also runner up oral and best and runner up poster presentation. Fear not, we will return and BOGS 2026 will be hosted at Sheffield Hallam sometime in July 2026... watch this space!
