This was delightful! We'll often get a nightly murder flying around at dusk, but this was unprecedentedly large and vocal. I managed to catch the tail end of it, no pun intended.

… hearing the bluejays above, I put some almonds on the railing for them, and guess what!
First, a grackle, then a female sparrow, and before any bluejay got one, our peanut-eating downy woodpecker took one and flew to the honeylocust tree to eat it. 😆❣️
