Why was I seeing what I can only call advertisement-posts on beige.party, but not on kolektiva.social?
I wasn't following those accounts. The posts weren't boosted at all, as far as I could tell - and certainly not by anyone I follow.
So...can an instance just shove posts into your feed? I thought that your feed is just the posts made or boosted by people you've chosen to follow, right? Mastodon has no algorithms. Does it?
Not a big problem. I blocked the two advertiser accounts as soon as I became aware of them. But it's odd, and that makes me want to know why it happened.

Weird question but has anyone on beige.party had problems logging in with Firefox? Chrome seems fine but using Firefox I can't get past the login screen?

I've very much enjoyed the injection of energy from the #Forkiverse crowd over the last few days. Nice to have some new kids on the block giving #BeigeParty a challenge for the quirky takes we need to dilute the feeds from all the foul outside world stuff that sometimes threatens to dominate.

YouTube boycott update: still going. My internet keeps popping in and out, usually requiring a router reboot. But I'm not missing YouTube either way. I'm bored, yes - but YouTube is just another way to be bored, and I don't need it.
I think I'm working towards some sort of change in my life. Not sure where it's taking me, but at least it will be *somewhere*.
Hey, what's the story with Beige.party? I've seen posts from some users, and some references, but I don't know much about it.

If all goes well, our instance will get a major software update today. Our honorable leader told us what the instance may be offline/in maintenance mode from 4-8 UTC.
For folks who, like me, are in CET, that means that Beige may be black between 5-9am. So no worries...

...when beige turned black and left the party... It was an usual Friday morning. Exercises, social media, relaxing, scrolling... And then... No new Toots came. The app seemed broken. I tried the web version of the site and I got an error message, informing me a certificate had gotten too old and the site wasn't secure enough to use at the moment. And that day I noticed how much time I spend on Mastodon... Am I addicted? Or is this my kind of lifeline to some form of social connections, as I have little of that in my outdoors life... Considering the magnitude of the disaster awaiting us just 62 days from now, THERE NEEDS TO BE A SERIOUS INVESTIGATION into all of the election anomalies that suggest this #election might have been #stolen (and in a way a #recount won't catch, ie: #VoterSupression, #FakeVoters & #TossedBallots) but fear being called #hypocrites.Any *one* of these could probably be explained away, but the sheer number of anomalies cries out for investigation BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. #BeigeParty
