  1. Why does this Huffington post article appear to blame the CEO of the Washington Post for the vast firings at the corrupt paper?

The CEO was fired too. Also by Bezos, but its written as if Bezos fired him for the firings, that Bezos did. Is this the level of bullshit we must now expect?

  5. Lots of media coverage about the new hospital league tables in England.
Not one of the media sites I've looked mentions this:
    "Using the data
When looking at league table data—especially overall rankings—it’s important to check the confidence intervals. These show how certain we are about a trust’s score or rank."

    There are other caveats.

My inclination for sharing data was always tempered by my knowledge that politicians and the media will jump on a single 'fact' and ignore critical metadata.

Brandon Johnson Elected Chicago Mayor, Turning Back Tough-on-Crime Opponent
    NYT Headline in February:
Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago Loses Her Bid for Re-election
The result was a resounding defeat that reflected widespread dissatisfaction from voters over her handling of crime.

  7. CW: Example of terrible tech reporting from a big name

Mixing up decentralized and Federated, while also citing edge case ignorance as "typical" of a platform.

  8. CW: Violent attack by LA City Councilmember

@chadloder what video are you watching? The guy totally made physical contact and trapped him against the wall. The councilman had an absolute right to push the guy away and defend himself.

The guy may not have touched him with his hands, but he was bumping him with his chest. That's physical contact & that entire crowd needs to be charged. You cannot do that to somebody – even if the councilman is a racist jerk.
