    Today in history, #Ethiopians celebrate victory of #Adwa after defeating invading Italian forces in Adwa Tigray on 1 March 1896, it's commonly known as the Battle of Adwa, with Chief commander being Menelik II with his wife Empress Taytu.

    Victory of #Adwa led to a change of government in Italy. It led to a treaty that confirmed the unconditional acceptance of Ethiopian independence & sovereignty. The only African nation to remain free.
    Ethiopia and Liberia are the only two African countries that were never colonised.
