The best part about 16bit Sensation: Another Layer (other than the pixel art in the ED), is the Original Kyu timeline toward the end of the season. Of course, we get late-stage capitalism as soon as the US is involved.

The big twist of 16bit Sensation: Another Layer is that it's actually a time travel anime. Throughout the series, Konoha travels back and forth between 2023 and the 1980s and 90s.

16bit Sensation: Another Layer is a sci-fi, comedy series about a girl who's obsessed with bishoujo games. She lives and breathes them. And yes, I said it's a sci-fi anime.

And with that, 16bit Sensation is wrapped up and so is my fall shows. While I enjoyed a lot of the details sprinkled in this show, the pixel art especially, the poking at AI given *flails arms at world*, and a nerd too obsessed with old tech, confused what to take away from this show. #anime #16bitSensation

The idea that you'd (effectively) imprison people to be the creative bit necessary for AI to generate games, or linking this back to reality - content in general, is terrifying but something corporations seem primed to do with their desire to fulfill shareholder value by any means possible. #anime #16bitSensation

Never expected 16bit Sensation to, out of seemingly nowhere, depict the hell that corporations would love to create with AI. This story feels like it's gone a bit off the rails from the original premise, but still - this all feels akin to the nonsense we're living through in a way. #anime #16bitSensation

The Radio Kaikan is the iconic building opposite the JR Akihabara Station. It was the first high-rise building in Akihabara in 1962 and was horribly derelict by the 2000s (It was horrible, I have pics somewhere). It was rebuilt from 2011 to 2015.
It's where the time machine crashed in Steins;Gate, and is now being destroyed in 16 Bit Sensation.

#16BitSensation thought: Mamoru's sentimental devotion to the PC98 seems unthinkable today. Tech influencers treat Moore's law as a kind of manifest destiny, constantly pushing people to replace products well before their time and to regard the last generation as e-waste.
I think Maker hobbyists are an exception. They treat each generation of microcontrollers like an instrument, having individualistic quirks rather than being a temporary step on the treadmill of progress.

The fourth episode of 16bit Sensation was relatively uneventful. Konoha continues to work on getting Mamoru back to the game studio, she runs into that girl who wanted to buy bishojo games, and look at that young Mamoru tinkering on a computer. #anime #16bitSensation
