Oh, now they give it a name. I've known about this type of depression for decades. https://www.sciencealert.com/researchers-identify-new-circadian-subtype-of-depression-affecting-1-in-4-patients

Y'all backup your old USB drives.
I just found my old music stick from when I used to DJ is pretty fucked up, so a bunch of files are inaccessible. I guess flash drives aren't expected to last forever, and this one got beat up pretty good, but nonetheless, if it were something actually important, I'd be pretty sad/mad about it. In this case, it's songs I can buy again (a lot of it came from eMusic when eMusic was different, so I can't just download them again) and Mixxx playlists I don't care much about.

Github Actions runner's got some shady looking shit running on it. I'm sure it's fine, it just acts like malware in that it starts a BPF agent in the kernel from a file in /tmp and then deletes the file. It also has a nondeterministic name, different on every run. That's exactly the kind of shit rootkits do.
After a bit of research I guess it's maybe this or something derived from it: https://attx-project.github.io/Service-UVProvenance.html

I'm working on a super lightweight intrusion detection and security stance scanner for modern Linux, and it hilariously has called out Oneleet (a security company, I have their agent installed because my employer is prepping for a SOC2 audit) for not signing their agent package. The other offender with unsigned packages is Google.
I've been signing packages for my tiny software business that barely makes any money for decades now, and an alleged security company and one of the biggest tech companies in the world can't be bothered. It's fucking embarrassing.

Fascism is an international project. They prop each other up, protect and enable each other's corruption, use their resources to normalize authoritarian rule. It's like a Bizarro world version of solidarity.
Every loss they face costs them all in legitimacy, removes another quid-pro-quo partner from the stage, and proves people can take power back.

Grian seems to have learned how to sing on some of the tracks on the new Fontaines D.C. record, and I don't know how I feel about that.

There's an interesting thing I've noticed about myself with the onslaught of hard-to-read AI prose seemingly everywhere. I am historically a rules lawyer (in my head, not out loud) about grammar and spelling, silently judging folks for ugly or clunky prose. AI writing has softened my position on this issue. LLMs write with excellent grammar, but they have no intention, so they can't ever really get to the point. They don't want anything, so there is no point to anything they say. They are generally bad writers because of it.
My fixation when reading now is on whether there is a clear point, something the author wants me to get, not whether the grammar is nice or the spelling is good.
I think this is telling me that I, and you, shouldn't use AI even to edit and definitely not to write. I suspect it makes your writing worse even while making it more grammatically defensible to an English teacher.
