  1. Reichskonkordat und Mit Brennender Sorge

You should have known better than to put yourself in a position to be manipulated. Your intentions are irrelevant -- the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

  2. ~$600 billion.

That's how much Anthropic's *forward* debt will be over the next decade. IOW, it will owe that amount over time, for the next decade, as its computing power needs grow.

    ~$6 billion.

That's how much debt Anthropic currently has.

That means, no matter what, Anthropic *will* require more server farms, otherwise it will completely tank. That's debt they have to pay regardless of whether or not they can access that computing power.

  3. It seems odd that *everyone* is talking about getting rid of Lincoln Riley, head coach of football, when they're 6-2, right? But, people are using an embarrassing loss at Wisconsin as the basis for believing Riley can't win more than 1 more game the rest of this season, when they host Maryland. Everyone's expecting Riley to finish -- if he's allowed to -- the season at 7-5 and that's not good enough for his $11M salary.

But, never count Riley out. He just may pull a 9-3 or 10-2 season. The question is, why did USC play so flat against Wisconsin, a team with far less talent. I think it's because they left for Wisconsin just the day before the game, which was unlike the Penn State game where they arrived 2 days prior.

We'll see. Beat Ohio State, Indiana, Maryland, and UCLA and the Trojans would sneak into the playoffs and he'd get another year. Probably.

  5. “Because it’s a lot of money.”

If Trump were honest, he would have said, "because if it's politically useful to me, I can immediately weaponize it."

Instead, he made a fool of himself, claiming that $30K was more than what could easily be $1M or more, for reporting actual fraud. Of course, he probably didn't know about the existing law, anyway. He's that kind of ignorant fool who thinks he discovered a word that's been in use for centuries.

  6. "There could be a crime"

That's one hell of a lazy basis for a civil lawsuit and in itself the proof of weaponization of the DoJ.

Imagine all the lawsuits that will be filed against Todd Blanche, therefore, starting in 2029. Or sooner, at the state level, under the claim that federal preemption does not apply to local crimes -- he may have committed state election law crimes; he may have committed state civil rights; etc.

  7. A rare event, though not extremely rare, fed/triggered by the extreme drop-off of temperatures between Nino 3 and Nino 4. Using an umbrella is rough; gusts typically blow rain horizontally. Days like these, there's no way your laundry can be line-dried, even if the line is a covered balcony.

  8. At the end of a chat with which started off talking about Thymos, I proposed, "If I were to write a treatise on this topic, I would call it, 'The Mythology of Virtue'."

It gave me an outline of themes that we'd covered, using my choice of words:

    1. The Fiction of the Self-Generated Fire
    2. The Weaponization of the Sliding Scale
    3. The New Asceticism and the Commodity of Drive
    4. Reclaiming Diversity from Taxonomy

My subtitle would be, "From Thymos to Calvinism, to New Thymos -- the intrinsically flawed taxonomies of The Purpose of Life"

    😆 :thinkerguns:

  9. "Can’t send messages because you subscribed to this channel while watching a video made for kids"

This is the weirdest YouTube limitation, ever.
