  1. 🚨 New version of my mastodon-comments webcomponent available! 🚨

This webcomponent integrates a mastodon thread into a website to be used as a discussion thread.

The last version of the component introduces a dialog to allow the user selecting their mastodon instance to reply from.

  2. @dpecos Found your blog post and I'm now curious...
Do you by any chance know what adjustments would be needed to make it work with #mkdocs and the #materialformkdocs theme?

Like, I'm not entirely sure what CSS changes/additions I would need to make to include proper looking mastodon comments for my blog posts.

So far I copied the code snippet and adjusted the variables inside it to make it work with the #jinja2 syntax and so far it seems to work.

Now I just need to properly format everything, so if you could help by any means I would apreciate it (Even if it was just linking the (S)CSS used).

  3. Replaced Disqus with Mastodon-powered comments on my Hugo blog. The idea clicked as soon as I read @getajobmike's post. One tootId in the frontmatter, a web component by @dpecos doing the fetching, and Disqus is gone. No tracking. No ads.

Here's how I set it up on my blog: jonhnnyweslley.net/blog/mastod

  8. On a brighter note, I just implemented Mastodon comments on my #blog test page, thanks to @dpecos's excellent repo:
    github.com/dpecos/mastodon-com

Maybe someday I'll seriously try to make it so I can update my "finished/played games" thread through my blog, but for the time being I'll be happy to just adapt the #CSS to my site and see how streamlined I can make the process of posting/tooting and then tying the blog post and the toot together without extra, manual steps.

  9. I did something… unexpected: I booked my discovery flight (4 in fact, a mini #ppl course)

So excited and looking forward to it, and probably pursuing #PPL afterwards. I’m already reading to prepare the theory part.

If you’d tell me just two months ago I’d be doing this I’d have laugh at you really hard. But I’ve decided to pursue whatever I feel I’d like without thinking it too much.

  10. Thx a lot to Holly Cummins (@holly_cummins) and Venkat Subramaniam (@venkats) for such inspiring talks today at the 10th Aniversay of Utrecht #JUG

Probably the best recommendation I’ve seen of the current AI scenario:

    “Human write bad code
AI was trained on code written by humans
Humans complain Al write bad code
    This is called Karma, baby”

  15. @PE4KH last time I checked, and my current setup is built around, #cqrlog on linux was the option with the most integration features, and more complete overall.

Curious about what your next steps will be, good luck!

  16. #Newyear, start with a clean inbox: filter & archive all your email from 2025 with `after:2025/1/1 before:2026/1/1 in:inbox` #gmail #zeroinbox

This is a “tradition” I’ve followed for the past few years to start the new year with a fresh inbox 😎

Pro tip: you can label those messages with #unreadmail2025 to easily find them later if needed.

  17. After many years of using an #anet #a8 (and learning a lot during the process), tune has come for a change, and for a bit of an upgrade: #bambulab #a1

The biggest difference is by far the much better user experience: it just works every time without needing to tweak or adjust anything.

I’ve been printing non stop for the last few days without a single print failure, and the quality is unbelievable.

I’ll be printing some minis for #ttrpg games, pictures coming soon!

  22. Yesterday we started a new #DungeonsAndDragons campaign within the world of #dragonlance

This one looks like it’s going to be quite an epic one, with lots of lore and role playing opportunities.

My character is a kender rogue with tendency to “take care” of other’s people stuff.

Already during session 0 there were a couple of funny situations caused by his behavior.

Promising adventures ahead of our part in the coming months 💪

  23. Would you like to connect #WSJT-X to your logger application and another helper app (#GridTracker, JTAlert,...)?

You just need to use a UDP Multicast address (in 224.0.0.1 - 239.255.255.255 range) bound to an network interface (en0 in my case using #linux) in all the apps.

Don't forget to use the same port everywhere!

Thanks to this I can do digital modes (#FT8, #FT4, ...) and, *optionally*, use GridTracker to visualize my contacts.
