I'm not pro-harassing people to do alt-text. I get it. Life is draining and effort is at a premium. Sometimes you just wanna make a shitpost.
That being said, I thoroughly enjoy alt-text. Sometimes I just want to know what is going on in a photo and I can see just fine. It also makes me 100x more likely that I will boost a photo/video.
It can be hard enough to tell what is going on in a photo when you can see it, let alone for our fedifrens who can't.
Don't be intimidated what I will call "altmaxxers" who somehow can write, like, a whole freaking beautifully written essay for a photo of a banana. Thats really cool but I cant consistently do that. A sentence or a few words is still better than nothing.

So two things about the #flydubai incident and as a disclaimer these two things are unconfirmed by official sources afaik.
- The engines were likely shut down by the copilot attacker. This is based off of what seems to be power loss in the cabin (in flight entertainment turning off, emergency exit lights turning on). This is major question that I frankly was confused why the attacker didn't do it. Turns out he likely did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBc2gNkPVi8&t=1169
- The plumber who said he pulled the plane out of the dive probably didn't do the majority of the pulling out, the plane likely did. A dive requires consistent force on the control column. A yanking of the control column back likely would have tore the wings off at that speed but the plane is actually aerodynamically stable so after the copilot was removed the plane naturally levels out. I got eight hours of sleep. High quality sleep, apparently.
I woke up so exhausted it feels like I haven't slept for a week. Just moving around underneath my soft blankets it feels like large swaths of my skin have been both sunburned and bruised. I don't know how else to describe it. Occasionally I get randomly timed "zap" sensations.

Not feeling great today but this made me smile. I'd like to congratulate Navi Pillay for her very well earned Nobel Peace Prize.
"Perhaps it was meant to be that I was in this historic courtroom... when the announcement was made and I was informed of the award," Pillay said. "We are living through an era when international law and human rights are under significant political attack ... This worsening reality is particularly visible with the attacks on the International Criminal Court."
She noted that she was lauded by the Nobel committee for her courage, which she questioned, saying: "You can imagine how surprised I was. Why would you need courage to speak the truth? You interpret the law, you look at all the facts, so it's an impartial decision you make."
