@xgebi I don't know of a marketplace, but I can recommend at least one indie designer and a couple other hopefully useful websites
the one indie designer I've bought (and actually sewn¹ :D ) more pattern from is scroop patterns / the dreamstress, who is not in the US (she's in NZ), and sells directly from her site

Then there is freesewing.org/ (free as in #freeSoftWear) that aren't traditional patterns, but made-to-measure ones and work in a bit of a different way. They have published freesewing.org/blog/us-and-eu/ on the topic of getting away from the US, and are here on the fediverse.
And lastly I follow a blog (the author is in the UK) that does reviews of free patterns: many are from the websites of indie designers (other from bigger sites) and may be a good source for additional sources of patterns.
¹ they aren't a lot because I enjoy drafting my own patterns

@xgebi I'm using #Helix https://helix-editor.com/ because it has great integration with language servers including rust-analyzer, but has completely different usage idioms. Other editors to try out would be #GnomeBuilder https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Builder or #Lapce https://lapce.dev/ - no idea about the current state though due to me not using them on a daily basis.

I made this for my old mom in 2018, using a standard Raspberry Pi 3 kit with a 7" screen, and enclosure. A simple python script runs on startup. I never got around to adding reminders and two-way radio, but I did install ssh and vnc so I could monitor it and make changes remotely. It was very useful for a couple of years until her dementia deteriorated further.
If anyone is willing to host the description and small implementation files in a public source repo, then I would be happy to share.

Did adulting thing without getting anxious.
In the past, it was almost impossible for me to make a phone call without getting anxious for days.
This time I was waiting only for working from home and not from the office.
On one hand I feel like celebrating, on the other hand this feels wrong.

If I could stand pop music, I'd be watching ESC. It feels like it's the only thing that makes some sense even if Israel is participating.
Instead, I'm re-watching Civil War (2024) because that feels like a better scenario compared to where USA is headed. And I need a story with a good ending right now.

LLMs are just a continuation of what has been happening on the frontend for the past decade and some.
jQuery was a polyfill and quite a few things were implemented in browsers, making it obsolete.
Angular, React and Vue abstracted DOM manipulation and events. It wasn’t completely a bad idea. Sort of a JVM running in a browser.
Tailwind abstracted CSS. Because backend devs didn’t want to learn a different paradigm.
LLMs and agents are working on making those four obsolete and pushing developers even further from web platform.

There are days when I wish tech journalists applied critical thinking and were open about people’s biases. Especially when it comes to “AI” space.

Do I have sunk costs? I guess I'm done with waiting for Godot to see what's next for frontend development.
The unholy trinity of Angular, React and Vue may go away because having CSS and HTML in file is consuming too many tokens.
To be frank, I'm not sure I want to be here for it. LLMs and agents are taking the fun part out of coding. And I guess I'm Worf-type developer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbMdvywftfI).

So, as I’m putting my life back on track, I’m trying to figure out what to do with size of my ear plugs/tunnels.
At the moment I’m at 10mm and 8mm. In the past I’ve had goal set to 22-ish mm but I’ve also had set backs because ears got unhappy around 14mm.
If I may ask, if you have stretched earlobes, where did you decide to stop? And why?

*sigh* only caret-color is in #caniuse, caret-shape and caret-animation aren't. It's definitely a CSS disappointment that they aren't implemented yet.
So I'll look how to add those two there tomorrow.
