@vbfox @khalidabuhakmeh an RFC is already approved and partly implemented that accomplishes some of this. We’re hoping it’s stabilized before we GA our first #AzureSDK for Rust crates.

@zrail @vbfox to be fair, there's two generations of ZBT by now and #homeassistant #nabucasa could have built that in.

Today at 1am I noticed that my mail server wasn't working well since 2 weeks and that lead to a fun quest about fixing it that took me a few hours.
I'm not working theses days as i'm starting a new job in 1 month so I had time to dig to fix it...The visible symptom was that gmail wasn't able to fetch my mails via pop3.
First issue was that the debian trixie migration got me #dovecot 2.4 instead of the 2.3 that was there before and it's NOT a minor version bump, they essentially re-wrote a new configuration file format... And obviously my docker image didn't have a "dovecot -n" anywhere to check the configuration
The second issue was that gmail only goes to IPv6 if possible and that was broken too after a long search I didn't find why, but the default route wasn't obtained via dhcpv6, forcing it enabled and rebooting the VM solved that one.
If only I hadn't deleted the #POP3 connection in gmail, now it needs to download back the 40k emails of my inbox again and show me all the ones I deleted gmail side only 🤣

Each time I see posts about how Mastodon (the backend software) scale I start to architect a replacement in my head.
Maybe a rewrite in rust using #Glommio and an event sourced core with storage in #PostgreSQL, projections in #ScyllaDB and #RedPanda for the queues.
But that's very much not a weekend project so it'll never happen.

And the sad news is :neofox_sad: : #Gmail took the oportunity to warn me that they are removing the POP3 connection system anyway this year.
But there is no good alternative if you want to stay on GMail as forwarding mail there doesn't work at all (I tried for years)
So maybe i'll need to self host but sending mail is actually the problem if I do that, not receiving... that protocol is clearly broken.

Tried again to switch from prettier to #BiomeJS (@biomejs) on work projects.
Good news is that formatting #Typescript works well and prettier compatibility is now near perfect.
Bad news are that it doesn't yet format sass or yaml, the VSCode extension is invasive and configuration file is still horrible.
🤷♂️ will try again in 6 months

Half-Life 2 anniversary update with dev commentary in the game, a new documentary video by #Noclip crew and the 2 episodes integrated in the same game.
Here goes my weekend?
(Also it’s free on steam if acquired in the next two days, but I had the game for 20 years)

Nice that Google start adding #passkey support, but sad that I won’t be able to use them as they require #iCloudKeychain on #iPhone and there is no way that I enable that 😔

Second project I hear about that uses #KissKissBankBank (A french kickstarter clone) and has big reliability problems with them.
It’s a kind of product where you must handle spikes in traffic as it’s exactly what a successful financing campaign does. And they fail at it. Repeatedly.

That #BingoBrawlers #EldenRing match was a blast ! -
First game of Elden Ring #BingoBrawlers season 3 was great, the new 2v2 format works really well when casted.
Let’s see if the 2 other ones of the day are as good.
