Holy heck I have to seriously focus my air HARD to get back my bass clarinet chops.
I was just skating by blowing with my more intermediate soprano clarinet, bass takes a different level.
It's a much older clarinet than I'm used to. The key system feels more floppy and less precise from the bass I used decades ago. #clarinet key systems have come a really long way from the 1950s to 1960s. Pretty sure the student bass I used to play was from 20 to 30 years after this one I have on loan!
It's really putting a fire under my butt to hunt for a good deal. The Chinese basses are looking tantalizing, and forums say that they're OK, but you need to get it set up by a pro band instrument repair person for it to even play well.
