So I just printed a PDF from my phone from #Termux cause Android couldn't do it or something;
I just ran
pdftops -level3 foo.pdfto convert,
thennc 10.0.0.66 9100 < foo.psand it just printed.Like that's all it took :neocat_aww:
I spent at least 15 minutes troubleshooting Android, but two simple CLI commands were all it took.
Thanks so much @termux this would have been a nightmare otherwise

caveats

- I just install Midnight Commander on one of my Androids and the supporting libs (including
clangtook a massive 540MiB while mc itself is small) - I only noticed because on a default debian install those libs are already there for other elf binaries
- on the Slitaz distro those libs are also installed, when mc is invoked / installed

Well, I had to give up on the #rsync approach - rsync over #MTP seemed to have issues with copying some file metadata that rsync would need to handle incremental updates. Subsequent rsyncs would re-copy _everything_. Boo.
Likewise using #android usb-debug mode and `adb push` (android debug tool on linux) also only re-copies everyting.
I could use #termux on the phone to provide an actual rsync or ssh host on the phone (which would also let me use wifi). Or..1/

Happy to report that #Termux works for #Git syncing with my remote repo on mobile data! It often fails when I'm using #PuppyGit or #GitSync. Really happy I can do everything related to my blog now when I'm not at home!

Today I've finally (after years) discovered #termux Android terminal emulator. So far I've been using #connectbot but termux is easier to type on, die to always visible control keys (tab, arrow keys...)
As a bonus, you have a local unix environment at your disposal.
Kudos to @termux !

I can think of multiple ways to get those ssh keys into #termux , the easiest being to run these commands in order in termux:
> whoami # get termux user
> passwd #allows for password auth
> sshd -4p 8022 # This starts the ssh daemon listening on your phone's IP4 address at port 8022. Then from wherever your ssh keys are residing, ssh-copy-id, and boom there goes the dynamite.Or... just copy the keys onto a SD card and go that route.

The XFCE desktop I launched from Termux as an unpriv user did not have access to the sockets needed for 'nmap -sU'. But running the Termux nmap exe as the Android native root works just fine. But no working Termux sudo to bridge the (easy) gap
There is some discussion on Reddit about sudo being deliberately cut from Termux? idk
This worked to give me easier access to priv func via sudo in Termux

Not 100% sure, but there might be a conflict between the #termux x11 server or termux-kali and my screenshot apps - even on the normal phone screen. TBD
But I did go ahead and install a version termux-kali as described here
