Anyway, the bank reversed the charges, so it’s fine. Funny thing is, this actually worked out great for me. It’s a family account in Hawaiʻi where (spoiler) I have been since Saturday on family business, which included reworking this account. Yeah, a bank visit was already on my agenda when I got the fraud alert, so I only had to move it up to first thing Tuesday after the holiday. Required more paperwork, but it got me to take care of all the business early, and I got a story out of it. 🤙

PSA for those who trust Intuit with their finances: I had to unlock a checking account because some scammer ordered checks in their name with my account number and cashed one at a California-based credit union.
Here’s the kicker: the checks were ordered through Intuit, owner of QuickBooks, TurboTax, and Credit Karma! Yeah, that Intuit didn’t verify the account owner and still labeled the check “PROTECTED AGAINST FRAUD.” Sure, it is, Intuit. Sure, it is. 😏
