  1. I keep hitting a crazy bug in 44 when using Firefox and close a tab the whole screen tears and I cannot do anything except reboot.

My PC has a 3080 in it without the Nvidia drivers, so I haven't bothered to look much at the logs since I will install nvidia drivers.

  2. From waiting for #RHEL to release an update for #copyfail to waiting for RHEL to release an update for #dirtyfrag

Time to change career and open a bar on a beach? 🤷‍♂️

  3. Looks like we're waiting on dnf5 v5.4.2.1 rpm build to hit @fedora with the fix for dnf5daemon.

Not seeing it in Koji or Bodhi yet.

  4. There appears to be a bug in #Fedora 44 with malcontent-timerd service and dnf5daemon-server services not stopping properly at shutdown.

Is anyone else getting stuck with 5 minute shutdowns?

  5. Tried the #COSMICdesktop in Fedora 44. Nice little desktop and the window tiling being easy to turn on and off is great.

I got slightly confuddled when the terminal window and text editor window merged into a combined group. That was cool, also potential for lots of typing in the wrong app 😄

Text editor stopped responding when trying to exit, it was the last app in the merged window group.

Missing a UI similar to NetworkManager in GNOME for creating an OpenVPN connection was disappointing. Nice to see a Wireguard option.

Overall I think it's shaping up really nicely, still needs more features to make it functional for my work laptop. It's largely stability issues, some additional system settings options.

  6. One thing I have never been a fan of is sponsoring software projects using GitHub Sponsors page. And there are lots of individual developers that rely on it.

I have been using OpenCollective to support software projects. I wonder if there will be more developers open to using alternative platforms away from GitHub to support their work

  8. I think @fedora needs a patch to GNOME Software for enabling repos. I am not sure if this is a bug that's been covered yet?

GNOME Software -> Software Repositories currently directly edits repo files in /etc/yum.repos.d/ but the `dnf5 config-manager enable <repo-name>` command creates an override file under /etc/dnf/repo-overrides.d/ directory.

And if you use Software UI to disable a repo the override file is not removed.

    Toggle "Test Updates" on
    Toggle "Test Updates" off

    Run dnf config-manager enable updates-testing
    Run dnf config-manager disable updates-testing

Things quickly get out of sysc

GNOME Software can also get stuck in a loop trying to display the repo list if it loses track.

  9. In the age of AI generated #markdown humans should start using #reStructuredText documents 🤔

  10. With #Perforce doing a takeover of #puppet Slack where can I complain that the Debian PDK packages aren't installing because the key has expired?

  11. Today I learned about the term "Rageclick". Thanks .

Rage clicks are when a user repeatedly clicks on an element on the page. It can be an indicator of frustration.
