Bonus squee: I mentioned how one of my most favorite things in #Lumberjanes was the mixtape playlists themed to the story of a particular issue; they really sold the authenticity of the camp experience. Ellis replied, “Yep, that’s all me!” and explained that mixtape trading was something from her own experience that she wanted to include. It felt great to thank her directly.

Took the kiddo to pick up comics at a FLCS this afternoon and by astounding coincidence and to our great surprise met Grace Ellis (writer of #Lumberjanes, Moonstruck, and more) who was there as part of Free Comic Book Day! Lumberjanes is an all-time fav for both of us so we enjoyed being totally star struck, getting autographs, and generally chatting her up.

Back in the DM’s seat for the first time since before the holidays and schedules and availability and health stuff all went to shit. Seemed like it went all right, which is reassuring. I’m always surprised at where they spend a ton of time and where they spend very little time. But the timing more or less worked out, and now they’re off to have dinner with the big bad, so I guess I’d better get that ready!

With BG3 behind me, I turn my attention to my backlog of games…

I started #Arranger last night, a charming indie puzzle-RPG. It’s got one of the loveliest, most organic onboardings I’ve ever seen. I also adore how illustrations are incorporated, with fragments of graphic novel artwork fading in and out as they gently accent the protagonist’s journey. Highly recommended based on my experiences so far!

Did I give myself a mild and rather infuriating RSI from using #Dungeondraft for umpteen million little clicks and drags and pinches and swipes and similar motions? Was there lots of swearing at its many UX annoyances? Also yes, and yes.

The final result is a map of 250x350 5-foot squares, or 1250x1750 feet -- almost 2.2 million square feet of in-game space, slightly over 50 acres!

Will my players visit it all? Even see it all? Almost certainly not!

Will I rest easier as a DM knowing that if the adventure needs to spill over into additional terrain, it's ready to go? HECK YES.

Me, ~2 weeks ago: The Yester Hill map in #CurseOfStrahd is unusable for gameplay. Are there good fan-made versions?

Me, 1 week ago: Fan-made maps don't cover much & many are not usable either. I'll make a few 50x50s that I can use for different parts of the hill…

Me, 3 days ago: I like placing lots of these maps in one scene in #OwlbearRodeo, but they don't line up right…

Me, now: So I redid the whole thing in 35 tiles of 50x50 5-foot squares…
