Really liked the new “#RogueOne: The #Andor Cut” that dropped today. It extensively reworks RO in subtle (and not-so-subtle ways), making it consistent with the tone and aesthetic of the Andor series, retconning it into a proper series finale. I found it a significant improvement, and more emotionally satisfying. There is ONE choice I don’t agree with which I won’t spoil it here, but it doesn’t detract meaningfully from the rest of the film.
Bravo, well done, highly recommended!

Finally finished Turn A #Gundam. It was a slow burn, but it got progressively more interesting after the first 10 episodes. Good story, great music (though I liked the original opening song more than the second one). I didn’t vibe with the mecha designs (a rare miss from legend Syd Mead) at all though.

Very happy to have finally seen the new #Gundam movie on a big screen. Super awesome, great experience — and it has a cat!

Bonus squee: I mentioned how one of my most favorite things in #Lumberjanes was the mixtape playlists themed to the story of a particular issue; they really sold the authenticity of the camp experience. Ellis replied, “Yep, that’s all me!” and explained that mixtape trading was something from her own experience that she wanted to include. It felt great to thank her directly.

Took the kiddo to pick up comics at a FLCS this afternoon and by astounding coincidence and to our great surprise met Grace Ellis (writer of #Lumberjanes, Moonstruck, and more) who was there as part of Free Comic Book Day! Lumberjanes is an all-time fav for both of us so we enjoyed being totally star struck, getting autographs, and generally chatting her up.

I’m always surprised at where they spend a ton of time and where they spend very little time. But the timing more or less worked out, and now they’re off to have dinner with the big bad, so I guess I’d better get that ready!
