  1. @lkanies wow. You weren’t kidding. Not only does it not work, but it doesn’t work in a way that clearly says “we thought about this use case, but fuck you in particular.” #carplay #apple #cycling

  2. @lkanies @atpfm @siracusa @marcoarment I thought about why Marco and others might consider and then decide #configmanagememt is not needed… here’s where I think it shines normally, whether you use #cfengine or #puppet or #chef or #saltstack or others:

    - scale / machine count / OS flavors (count of at least 150 in my experience to justify the investment, while all <100 minis are on the same OS)

    - expressing diversity through machine roles and profiles (all of Marco’s machines are managed the same way)

    - autonomous drift repair (probably the strongest need, but Marco seems happy doing it himself)

    - DSL and wrappers/macros to express intent in an abstract way (but that requires a large investment in learning that DSL)

    - dedicated infrastructure for extended functionality like monitoring outcomes and triggering actions (seems not strongly needed for those minis)

Form a fibre coop with neighbours

Edit, red states may have laws that force you to "choose" which oligarch to pay and prevent personal, coop and/or municipal coops. Because oligarchs need freedom, and Americans need frightened obedience.

  9. @lkanies get them matching face-hugger plushies :)

I've never seen either of those, but I've been making kidling watch other movies of the era ( many of which I haven't seen )

We've been taking turns choosing a Saturday night movie. I like Friday night or Saturday night in case it takes a day to process

I do warn kidling the movies will be cheesy

We went to see Bill and Ted in a movie theater. About 15 minutes in kidling leaned over and said "I had no idea how cheesy" #ParentingFTW :)

  10. @lkanies @hmm_cook It may be worth clarifying what we’re motivating our #neurodifferent kids FOR?

We maintain #routines for daily living needs… getting ready school, homework, bath and bed time.

For #interests, it’s best to let them self-pilot. We can introduce them to new things and see what sticks. But are #allistic kids so malleable that it works differently for them? If anything, we worked to maintain multiple interests.

  11. @lkanies It’s really funny: when you buy a large car for doing now and than grosary’s, than that is seen as just ‘normal’, but if you have a ‘bike with a trunk’ you are seen as some kind of a moron. #crazyWorld @xylakant @yacc143 @lehtimaeki

  12. @longreads @lkanies This…so much this. Absolutely why my attention to #AgileRetrospectives and #leadwithoutblame. Many great quotes in this article, starting with, “the primary purpose of an aircraft accident investigation is to prevent future accidents —“ #systemsthinking

  16. This is a fantastic article. Such a simple statement: a rich guy having an opinion is not news.

Yet many journalists treat it as worth reporting, and as neutral information.

Hah! I am nearly positive I felt this this morning. I even went online to check if earthquakes were being reported. But I was too early, or checking the wrong sites.

My first thought was, “that can’t be someone doing laundry at 5am”.

It was super light, a lot like a half second of the washer on spin.

  19. It has been very nice seeing all the #xoxo people come to Portland. It’s a reminder of how great Portland is.

I have been stuck here most of the last four and a half years, because of the pandemic, and health issues with me and my family.

And I have been living here — this time — for 15 years. I have been deeply feeling a need for change for a while.

So, it was awesome to have a bunch of cool people come from a bit further away and remind themselves and me of our fair city’s features

  23. CW: Palantir, ICE, Cellebrite, LKA Niedersachsen
