    People seem to think all their chats were previously secure, and now, because of this change, they're insecure. That's inaccurate.

    Unless you'd gone out of your way to enable E2EE (which disabled a lot of Instagram's messaging features), your messages were always insecure. Nothing has changed, except that you no longer have the option to go E2EE-secure.
