I now understand ollama is probably not a great choice for this because of something about its tool calling capabilities being bad/weird/whatever. Also, I have a lot of confusion about what model(s) to pick and understand this has something to do with tool use as well. ALSO, it seems like I may need an MCP layer in here for tool capabilities, something most of the helpful web articles did not cover AT ALL. #GenAI #LLM 3/6

No matter what I did, I could NOT get claude-code (or crush for that matter) to look at the local filesystem. My frustration isn't with this stuff being difficult or possibly impractical. It's that I was able to easily and consistently find complete bullshit when seeking help on the web. At some point I started wondering if some (most?) of these helpful websites were just AI slop, full of fake advice that just doesn't work. #GenAI #LLM 2/6

@paulmison I'm feeling (after much trial-and-failure) that tool calling with ollama and things like claude-code, crush is basically a hoax. It just doesn't work. "Docs" (lol) are hot-llm-generated-garbage. Nobody trying to get your $s for tokens gives a shit to make this work offline either. #GenAI #GenAIisBullshit

Wasted a few days trying to make local code-assistant tools work with locally-running Ollama models. Complete failure, none of the tool-call shit works with claude-code, opencode or crush. Several metric tons of hallucinated "help" out there on the web. #GenAI is a fucking disaster that does nothing but piss on my time. And yes, before people chime in, I tried MANY diff models to try to get tool bullshit working. It's crap.
