@carlrichell I'm a sucker for a good gaussian blur... pretty.
Reminds me of when I would configure #KWin to blur, and configure QT to have a transparent background. It was pretty, but not well-integated. I'm sure this could be better :) -

If you use "Show desktop", when do you use it (for what purpose). What do you do after showing the desktop? Thinking about the feature for COSMIC.

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is getting closer to shipping pre-loaded on @system76 hardware.
DDOS attacks on Ubuntu infra slowed things down. We built new infrastructure to remove our Launchpad dependency and speed up releases moving forward.

Carl Richell, founder of System76 and Linux version Pop!_OS, is proposing an amendment to Colorado's age verification bill to exempt open source software.
The amendment would exclude open source operating systems and apps, code repositories like GitHub and GitLab, and containers like Docker and Podman.
Richell is scheduled to appear before Colorado lawmakers today, April 23, and asks for backup in the form of stories about kids who have built or made things thanks to unhindered use of open source software.

System76 founder Carl Richell says Colorado’s SB26-051 may be amended to exempt open source software, including OSs, repos, and containers. 🏛️
The change follows advocacy, but wider state and federal proposals still risk verification rules that could limit open access and user control. 🔐🔗 https://itsfoss.com/news/colorado-age-attestation-bill-open-source-exemption/

#System76's Carl Richell laying out the realities of the new age verification laws in #Colorado and #California: https://blog.system76.com/post/system76-on-age-verification
"Most System76 employees installed operating systems and created accounts on their computer when they were under 18. They did this out of curiosity. Many started writing software. Some were already writing operating systems. [...] Limiting a child’s ability to explore what they can do with a computer limits their future."
