Dirbu prie kompo, ant galvos ausinėse, dėmesys ir muzika -- atsijungęs nuo pasaulio.
Bet jaučiu užpakaliu -- kažkas ne taip. Pažiūriu per iliuminatorių -- laivas daro manevrą. Įsijungiu navigacinį apps -- nu jo, kryptis į uostą, kurį aplankyti turėjome po savaitės.
Girdžiu koridoriuj kalbas, iškišu galvą: vyrai iš lazareto traukia neštuvus.

Last night, during a safety round in one of the casing compartments, I found a pool of oil on the deck. It looked like a disaster. I informed the bridge and the engine crew. The oil spillage was significant, and it turned into a messy job for one of the motormen. The cause was later found: during the oil transfer from one tank to another, the engine crew forgot to switch off the pump, causing a connection to break on the expansion tank.

Today we had unexpected firefighting and MOB drills.
Working on a passenger ship has a “feature”: drills every week, often with unexpected ones in the same week.
Two weeks ago, we had flag state control drills; today we had port state control drills.
And so on, and so on.
