In The Invisible Parade (Leigh Bardugo; art by John Picacio) it's the first day of November, and Cala doesn't want to go to the evening's party at the cemetery, because she's still mourning her grandfather. She's sad all day while her family makes a variety of food and buys flowers. At the cemetery she gets lost and separated from her family, and meets three brothers, all riding on horseback: one who's sick and sneezing, one who is all bones and very hungry, and one who's always angry and grumpy. Then the fourth rider arrives...

This is a sweet story, about grief and sadness, scary things, and Mexican Day of the Dead ceremonies, and Picacio's art is just gorgeous. It's tailormade for children in Goth households & brings up mortality in an age-appropriate way.
