@wilpercy
Swallows used to return each spring to nest in the awnings of a couple of local shops, but new tenants kept removing the nests and the swallows disappeared for a number of years.
However, recently heard the chattering of a couple of swallows in flight and saw them briefly alighting in local market gardens. Probably gathering mud for nest-building. Hoping people will let them be and let nature heal a little.

@wilpercy I think we’ll catch up in a week once it is is available on #NHKOnDemand - with the luxury of being able to skip anything truely intolerable, or rewind the best bits to play again. I gather there’s an Anpanman segment…

@wilpercy It does take a while especially if you do have a lot of data. Mine took about a day or so.

This looks such a great idea, but I found that neither this nor the Toogoodtogo (anti food waste) app are available in Japan.
Has anyone used them? -

@TwoClownsEating a rarity. I share some music with you: https://www.openculture.com/2017/02/japanese-priest-tries-to-revive-buddhism-by-bringing-techno-music-into-the-temple.html

@Pineywoozle Blurry experiments from the the last couple of weeks.

@Pineywoozle Thank you. This was taken above a secluded valley known for its maple trees. I used a half second shutter, 4000 ISO and F13 aperture. I held the framing long enough to get the leaves sharpish but then moved the camera down before the shutter closed, hence the blurred trunks.
The inspiration to experiment:

@lowqualityfacts former frog here. I can confirm this fact but disagree with the suggestion of symbiosis. It implies balance whereas we frogs know we have the better part of the deal. After all, the bees have to offer a sweetener to get protection, but once we’re in there’s no shifting us … until we croak.

@TwoClownsEating Yes, non verbal comms, on the phone. Perhaps I was hasty, lacked generosity given the circumstances, but it was a visceral reaction. I expect there was other stuff going on but that was the end of it.
At least you made the effort. -
@TwoClownsEating I remember being on the phone with a friend from university days, one whom I’d managed to stay in touch with despite our rarely meeting in the intervening years due to living in different countries. He said something in response to something I was enthusiastic about and it felt like such a dismissive comment that I can still recall the sensation of an abyss opening up between us. The friendship never recovered. The details are lost but the feeling is indelible.

@Rihilism thanks for the speed rule of thumb.
I use a monopod all the time because the nikon D2X + 70~200 f2.8 weighs in at 3kg! It’s 30 years old. I use it for sentimental reasons and was watching Kingshers yesterday. -
