A digression on 90s music led me to discover that Dexter Holland, front man of punk rock band The Offspring, returned to the University of Southern California to complete his PhD in Molecular Biology in 2017, thus joining the ranks of internationally successful musicians who returned to university to complete an advanced degree after pausing to pursue their music careers.
