He mostly talked about how he ran and developed in #MicrosoftAccess for the past 30 years. There were some interesting questions like "how did you version it?".

    We just all laughed.

  3. Learning a bit about Donald E. Knuth:

"While studying physics at Case, Knuth was introduced to the IBM 650, an early commercial computer. After reading the computer's manual, Knuth decided to rewrite the assembly and compiler code for the machine used in his school because he believed he could do it better."

    Because he believed.

    Woah.

  7. Hi #dotnet, I really need your help.

Let's show everyone #Mastodon is even better than X for #devhelp.

How do you run multiple intg. tests in .NET?

I am looking into #testcontainers and that seems best (or also this FluentDocker lib: guiferreira.me/archive/2023/do)

My concern is about eating CPU/RAM on #CICD host(s), as we have a lot of #tests & running a lot of stacks in parallel seems challenging (a lot of #DB services to start up).

I wonder, can I run eg. 10 by 10 of tests?

You can try it for free online: tris.fly.dev, limited to 3 parallel crawls and 100 links of path depth of 3.

Next thing I will add will be a text input to set a target domain hhh, now I am making it hard! 🙈

  20. If your web dev business is serious or becomes at one point. How come it may be really serious if you don't build integration tests.

I can not imagine doing anything without them. OK, you can go without them if you have a fantastic QA backup and devs do not test except run a sanity build and run. But still. Com'on.

  22. Hey #dotnet friends using System.Text.Json ✋

Has anyone managed to create code that uses source generators but for snake_case naming policy?

I notice I can not pass anywhere the serializer options when I specify using the source generator, and then I can not pass the snake_case naming policy?

Any help please, repost for reach?

  28. #Docker #gitlab and #dotnet with C# is the most fun stack I worked with. Second one is #golang and third #nodejs. I want to try #swift for #iOS and #Rust for web, #elixir seems insanely hardcore, F# looks like childplay to me when compared to it but it is the dotnet bias. The only thing C# misses is if it could somehow be interpreted just for development, just to save time on testing code ideas, no dotnet watch is not feasible for me sorry :) #happpydev #dev #devux #devstories #csharp
