@ttiurani Always has been:
“When peace comes we will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons, but it will be harder for us to forgive them for having forced us to kill their sons. Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.”

#Ilmastomuutos etenee, moni toivoo ihmeellisen tulevan teknologian korjaavan tilanteen.
#Kapitalismi on tullut tiensä päähän.

@ttiurani simple to use the terms #openweb and #closedweb the second has the advantage of making the #encryptionists uncomfortable.
This also brings questions to people who push liberal #mainstreaming around ideas of privacy and "individualism" that fit better in the #closedweb
#dotcons the profit/exploitation motive hiddening behind the "con" of commonsense.
The dotons are the closedweb as is #deathcults thinking (neo-liberalism) which is the "common sense" we live

While on the whole we agree that #rhetoric is important, and can be misleading. We a sorry to annouce that a great many Australians are #environmentalVandals and opportunitistic theives who greedily steal from past and future generations, simulateously.Having said that the majority are good, at least in 2007 when we voted for #KevinRudd. Alas he only lasted three years before the corporate #coup.

@cy @ttiurani @HeavenlyPossum the first clue about how they'd behave irl comes with their culture of origin: Tonga. That's a culture of taking care of one another. Men cook and care for children there. I don't know that the same outcome would show with a group of "typical" American kids. I don't think it's "natural" for a group of kids to devolve into chaos and mayhem, but dominant culture and childhood experiences are definitely going to matter or make a difference. Difference in basic cultural values matters. It's why I've stayed in Polynesia, over returning to the continental u.s., the people aren't terrible or selfish. They know how to cooperate and be kind to one another. Embracing/accepting capitalism as fact, whether rich or poor, makes people desperate and shitty. #EarthCare #PeopleCare #FairShare

Buying green is good sometimes. Not buying at all is better most of the time.

Excellent speech by Ndongo Samba Sylla proposing unilateral decolonization and economic sovereignity by the global South governments.
The steps outlined – reducing material-technical dependency on the global North, mobilizing production and establishing industry policy for human well-being etc. – are excellent policies even it wouldn't lead to collective defaulting of odious debts.

Today is #EarthOvershootDay , the day when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services for 2023 exceeds what Earth can regenerate.
While especially today it's tempting to draw attention to #overconsumption, in this blog post I argue that it's both ineffective to target individuals but also not the way the economy works.
Our focus should be on #overproduction.

Reminder that we know how to cut emissions fast:
"Demand-side measures and new ways of end-use service provision can reduce global GHG emissions in end-use sectors by 40–70% by 2050 compared to baseline scenarios, while some regions and socioeconomic groups require additional energy and resources. Demand-side mitigation response options are consistent with improving basic well-being for all. (high confidence)"

The Democratic Republic of Congo is auctioning later this week 30 oil and gas drilling blocks. These are located across the world's largest tropical peatlands.
This is an urgent global disaster and it needs so much more attention than it has received so far.

EU's ECT allows fossil fuel corps to sue governments for implementing green policies. Abolishing the treaty is a no brainer, but some EU countries are still on the fence.

Today with #elokapina (#ExtinctionRebellion Finland) we're protesting against #overconsumption and #overproduction and blocking a street in Helsinki city center. Finland must reduce material use by 70% – 81% to stay within planetary boundaries.
