  5. Disappointed to find significant typechecking issues in `lit-analyzer` (which powers `lit-plugin` for type checking in `html` templates), such as disallowing assigning a `string[]`-typed value to an `Iterable<string>`-typed property (and various other similar type issues that seem to go back some years: github.com/runem/lit-analyzer/).

Maybe I'm just missing something? What do others do to ensure type checking in Lit templates works correctly? I'd love to find out I'm just being dense as per.

  6. Explain it to me like I'm five: Why does being a former and incipient President of the United States give you a complete pass on punishment for state felonies unrelated to the office? A suspension of punishment while in office, fine, but an unconditional discharge? I didn't understand this in the lead-up when Merchan signalled there would be no punishment, and I'm none the wiser now.

  9. And the thing is, I found an article from November in the Sun (of all places) giving UK pricing. It's not bad at all, particularly not for multiple people (which is what I'm looking for). So why all the cloak-and-dagger?

Looking at #LingoDeer instead at the moment. Much easier to find their pricing. It's more expensive, but also seems more adv and less restrictive. But so far (very brief couple of lessons) they don't have me speaking, which Duolingo does (not sure it actually listens, but...).

  15. Re "Optimus robots". Temporarily putting aside the fact the demo was a complete sham: Given what we know about Elon Musk, why would ANYONE put a device from a Musk-controlled company in their home that had the capacity to spy on them? Are we meant to be just fundamentally, amazingly stupid? [Thinks back over the last few years: climate change denial, anti-vaxxers, MAGA, Covid denial, belief in "crisis actors".] Ugh, yeah, I guess we are.

Also me: OMG this is horrifying, people are actually saying they'll vote for the Reform party.

  17. Opening the Edge browser after Windows Update, presented once again with this dialog box. This is a straight-up, 100% pure monopoly power violation. The EU (and to a lesser degree, UK) anti-trust folks are at least slowly standing up to this. The U.S., not so much.

  19. If, like me, you're frustrated by Labour's official position on Brexit (it's done, we have to live with it), I have a strong feeling that's almost entirely tactical and the position will shift about a year after they're in government, if they win. Not toward a new referendum, but toward a much closer alignment with the EU, reducing trade and travel friction.

  20. In the market for a domain registrar. Recs pls!

*WOW* is the Squarespace account UI bad. (I was auto-transferred to them from Google Domains. [I know, I know, but it was simple and easy.]) Want a master list of invoices they've sent you? If they have one, it's _very_ well hidden, you have to go through the domain list, click the domain, and then find the invoices for that domain from there. And every other link opens in a new tab without being asked to.
