@tartley @andreiu I've definitely stopped installing #SyncthingFork updates from #Fdroid for now, and tbh @fdroidorg should probably have eyes on this

@tartley Some might say he was. After all, it's fairly broadly acknowledged now that #ItWasAScam to say Corbyn was anti-semitic. (See "Weaponising Antisemitism" by Asa Winstanley, for example).
Getting Starmer into the leadership was a planned operation, and the more that becomes known about Morgan McSweeney's role in events the more obvious that becomes.
Basically "loyal" Labour supporters have been taken for a complete ride, and many (I left) still believe in Starmer.

This is very well done. It is rare to hear about the #DreyfusAffair in any talk of #zionism and #antisemitism
Is this part of a podcast or is it a one-off production?

⬆️ >> #Palestinians never fought for freedom
They never fought for freedom despite being under the #TurkishYoke since 1517 the way #Arabs under #Hussein did in 1917.That’s how Arabs earned their freedom, but Palestinians never did.
Instead, egged on by Arab neighbors, they let the neighbors fight #inTheirName ever since 1947 (and later #Hamas) without taking their destiny in their own hands

Nice explanation of #ThievesBanquet — WHY #Britain carved out #Palestine.
#DamascusProtocol was crafted unilaterally by secret Arab societies but Britain never promised Palestine to #Hussein in #McMahonHusseinCorrespondence.
Britain rebuffed #zionism in 1914 & tried repeatedly to get #Turkey out of #WWI in exchange for Palestine, but Turkey refused.
Palestinians never fought for freedom.

So when I offered my left over bag of potting soil on the neighborhood chat, and then explained all this to my neighbors who I hardly know, I think I actually weakened my bonds with them instead of strengthening them. Yeah, definitely.

...It is this unending expectation of indebtedness and reciprocity - "Indian giving" in the ignorant pejorative Western term - which form the social fabric whose loss we so bemoan, and which is killed stone dead by the expectation that every exchange should be equitable and transactional and therefore immediately closed without provoking any prolonged ties. An expectation which is greatly facilitated by the precision and granularity of money, incidentally.
-
...gifts are spontaneously given without explanations or stated terms and conditions, leaving the receiver in a prolonged, open ended state of unquantified indebtedness, and an uncertainty as to whether any favor they later grant in return actually balances the books. In this way, each character is enmeshed in an ever complexifying web of unresolved emotional debts to one another, an unending expectation of reciprocation...

I just watched the "CJ the X" YouTube where he explains how the English language dub of #StudioGhibli's classic Kiki' s Delivery Service frames every kindness or exchange as part of a deal, in which something else is proposed in return, forming a closed transaction in which each participant is instantly relieved of the burden of indebtedness by the explicit reciprocity. However in the original Japanese dialog...

When the world is cruel and full of suffering, and you're struggling to get through it and fearful for the future, and you can see great injustices and destruction and wrongs being perpetrated, it can be hard to feel grateful for our lot.
But, friends, good news! The gratitude is an unburdening! The gratitude lightens your load and strengthens your resilience. Gratitude is self care. It might not change the horrific state of the world or the things that you must endure. But it changes you.

One response to all this comes from Marx, who countered that, for him, reality and humanity do not progress by the intellectual refinement of abstract ideas (Hegel's dialectic idealism), but instead by the motivations of individuals through society in seeking to address their material needs. A dialectic materialism. There. Suddenly a term that was completely opaque to me now makes sense.
-
Incidentally, as isn't entirely surprising, the hubris of Hegel's position, its claim to provide an all-encompassing philosophy, governing the totality of existence, and the prominence he gives to the overriding importance of the exercise of the individual will to shape reality, lead to his philosophy being the godfather of totalitarian ideologies…
-
For Hegel, this historical process culminated in his own elucidation of it, a revelation in which reality finally knew itself, a recursive bootstrapping of reality into a self-aware system of cosmic significance, with Hegel himself at the tip of the spear. It was a grand synthesis of formerly religious ideas and systems of meaning into a mode he made amenable to secular analysis, a process he named the dialectic, as in the conversational dialogue of ancient philosophy.

This constructed reality was a communal one, which was advanced or evolved in lockstep with the sum total of human thought and culture, in an iterative process whereby an idea might be discerned, and in clarifying the idea one automatically defines the negative space of its counter, and these two can then be integrated together into some greater, more nuanced and discerning idea…

Hegel pointed out that if we have no actual concrete or abstract direct knowledge of The Thing In Itself, then this concept is superfluous to the model here, and we might as well regard our own evolving understanding of the world, as generated by us, as the only reality we need, or even can, be concerned about.
This has powerful implications for the force of the will, which is therefore elevated to a godlike role of constructing reality, instead of observing it.
-
Fairly late in life I'm finally stumbling across a definition and context for "dialectical materialism" that I can actually understand.
Marx was reacting to Hegel, who, to over simplify, had synthesized ideas from diverse sources. One of them being Kant's distinctions between our perceptions of reality, which are products of our mind, which we impose on our sense data on our to manufacture abstractions which help us understand the world. Hence we have no contact with "The Thing In Itself"…

@jlw_the_jobber I had a bit of a bump, trying to remount my existing RAID drives in CasaOS without losing their data. The UI doesn't support that, and trying to hack it in place myself, not understanding anything about immutable distros, I kinda sorta got it working (assembled and mounted and smb shared), but couldn't get it to show up properly in the #ZimaOS UI.
