  7. A whole day of downtime of my many #selfhosted services!!!

When I realised that something was wrong I was at work and could not access the servers (because tailscale - or rather #headscale - is also selfhosted). A very stressful feeling that non-selfhosters (= Microsoft/Google/etc. customers) do not know at all. The downside of #DigitalSovereignty and #infrastructuring from below!

All is good now, countermeasures are implemented (for next time) and calm is spreading through my body ☺️

  17. Found a way to run a banking app on a Android phone (non-rooted with and without ). Had to edit the build.prop file following post 4 on this thread:
    xdaforums.com/t/banking-apps-o

I thought not being able to do mobile banking was one of the many sacrifices demanded when refusing to feed Google all my data. But there is a workaround - for the time being.

  18. Tomorrow I will try for the first time in front of a live audience (the PhD students of our Theories of Science class). Caper is a presentation tool which allows to add interactive elements (polls, feedback, forms) to a slide deck. The interaction design is on par with commercial offerings and they offer a simple docker compose which worked almost out-of-the-box. Great job! Let's hope performance with 24 concurrent users will be acceptable!

  19. Yet another invitation to submit an abstract to yet another panel at the upcoming conference:

*Democratic engagements enacted in and by energy transitions*

The dominant portrayal of energy transitions as a matter of technological fixes paired with social acceptability is very partial, at best. How would a more adequate analysis of the engagements performed by sustainable transitions look like?

  30. Used ' s "Ledger of grievances" (mentioned in Down to Earth and in the Arte interview) today in a session with students. We collected their grievances and connected them together to the many things that are wrong with . Not surprisingly the complete lack of a career path was one of their biggest complaints: A shitty work-life balance and so much work for what? Precarious temporary positions where you are forced to say "yes, thank you" to everything?
