  1. CW: MSX game suggestions

@sethmelton the list is a bit of a mix between releases from well-known software houses, and by scene groups, though the latter does not necessarily mean lower quality 👍
These were the ones listed on TFH's games page; when I have some more time I'll go through a bunch of other, perhaps lesser known, titles that require a bit more work to collect the links in a post. :)

Especially in recent years there have been quite some high quality homebrew releases such as @bitsofbas 's matchy matchy, Cube Droid and Quartet, Noramos's Super Mario World port(!), Caravan Boomer (demo), Relevo's Invasion of the Zombie Monsters and a whole bunch more in the annual #MSXdev competitions: msxdev.org/ (with playable online versions ar file-hunter.com/MSXdev/)

but I'll come back at some other time with more classic scene favourites:)

    Salamander

I very much enjoyed the MSX version of Salamander; it's notably different from the Lifeforce version that was released for the NES.
I recommend using this patch set github.com/bladeba/MSX/tree/ma which adds smooth scroll, SCC voice sample support, additional colour schemes. Play online here: file-hunter.com/MSX/?id=salama

    Vampire Killer

Vampire Killer also has significantly different gameplay than its Castlevania version for the NES. While it has fixed screens rather than smooth scrolling, it adds more of an adventure element to it, with needing to find skeleton keys to advance to the next levels, and bronze keys to open chests, and a couple of weapon changes.
(Though there's a fan-made patch that turns VK more into a Castlevania experience: msx.org/news/en/vampire-killer)
There are a couple of community patches for this one too, such as SCC sound chip support, smoother gameplay JoySNES support, etc. You can play a fully patched version of it here: file-hunter.com/MSX/?id=vampir
Various other patched versions can be found here: download.file-hunter.com/Games

I'm running out of time for more in-depth recommendations; might edit them in later, but here are a couple of quick ones:

  4. Any recommendations on a good iOS app to sync a folder over to a Synology NAS? The Drive app from Synology doesn't seem to let you select the base folder you want to sync
