@pomCountyIrregs @mwt Thank you. I certainly don't fancy myself an essayist, but I confess that I do purposely mangle the language to make a point(†). As you point out, there is a tradition of doing this.
To be clear, this essay was #writingAdvice for #fiction #writers like myself suggesting that focusing on people performing or doing evil things is far more engaging (and horrifying) than a more distant defined or indefinite #evil institution, being, or force, i.e., a #MacGuffin.
Yes, I proceed to relate it to real life because when we don't think about why we are doing what we do, acting on reflex or as taught by rote or obeying authority, we can do bad things unthinkingly. As characters will in our stories. As authors, getting our readers to realize their awesome capabilities (in this case to perform evil) is just one of the services fiction writers perform.
† - I am doing this wholesale in my current story.

I mentioned this earlier as being found Soundcloud. Over the past few days, I worked up a way to do this new song solo acoustic.

At antiradio.net, 9am California time, it’s #WyattOnTheRadio and we’re honored to be included.
Good show in general and this week he’s playing our re-arrangement of the traditional song “Down by the Riverside,” which went world-wide a few hours ago.

So I pulled the M-Audio thingy, turned on MainStage and played a bass line in D (pentatonic). Bounced between keys and G&L Fretless. Ready to go. Logic on, new, tempo, tempo, 128, no, 132 bpm.
Play something busier than the keyboard riff. Becomes a 16 bar phrase. D-C-D-E/F bounce.
Spend an hour playing with the rhythm tracks. Making beats? I wouldn't presume.
Play a chorus for first and last 16 bars. Improvise over the middle.

I appreciate the antipathy many have to links to streamers, but BandCamp’s TOS combined with my wanting to include a cover of Paul Simon’s Richard Cory means iTunes is the only place to purchase in full. Dark Corners - EP by The Pomegranate County Irregulars https://music.apple.com/us/album/dark-corners-ep/1833387585
You may stream the full thing from the usual suspects as well.

From album five, The Serfville Monad Talk with Fate, a song about a flood, Levee Seven.
The rain will stop; people will come
So-called leaders and those famous-fors
They come to pity, they come to be gone
‘Cause water hazards wreck golf scoresLevee six is gonna be rebuilt
And there’s loans for all the folks of Campton
All we had is now downstream
So seek you me in the mud that was Levee Sevenhttps://pomegranatecountyirregulars.bandcamp.com/track/levee-seven-3

In 2023, I wrote a sci-fi rock song about a corporate-controlled A.I. that erased all the original blues men and women. It also got pissy if you insisted Robert Johnson (and others) existed.
Crazy? Right?

While writing Bandcamp notes for album 11 "The Serfville Monad and the Pluperfect People," I gave a listen to the beautiful old-timey “Hard Times Come Again No More”. Performed by the “Anonymous 4” and Bruce Molsky. It's from the album “1865: Songs of Hope and Home from the American Civil War (Bonus Track Version)”

Over at @RadioTFSC, they will be in the Top 500 of the 2024 Artists countdown within the hour.
If one grouped all the artists into 100 medleys, they would have counted down to number 15.

@RadioTFSC is now within the Top 1000 of its 3,261 2024 Artists Countdown. https://radiotfsc.com. Check it out! As I’ve said before, there are many, many talented people in the Indie world.

@RadioTFSC is in the 1400s (Oops, edit: 2400s) of its 3,261 2024 artists countdown. One of the nicest and best stations for indies, no pay for play, open to all genres, a new music fan's paradise.

#ThePomegranateCountyIrregulars have put up a video of a track that probably, yeah, really likely, that will be part of the next album in July.
Don't know about on a single, though.
5-6-7-8. When I was putting lyrics to the backing track, I think I had recently watched an award-winning mini-series about a mendacious, vain musical director and his under credited wife.
