Итак, читатели обсудили на нескольких площадках изложенное в предыдущем посте фантастическое допущение, следствия из него и свою личную линию поведения.
Вот основные идеи.
- Человечество уже сейчас состоит и из фанатичных достигаторов, и из живущих полако. Будет контраст чуть сильнее – ну и отлично. Достигаторы будут добиваться ещё больших успехов, горя своими идеями, а остальные будут пользоваться результатами в комфортном для себя режиме (особняком стоит мнение о том, что балующиеся стимулятором пространственно сепарируются от тех, кто не балуется, или наоборот, появятся общины поборников естественности).
- Первое же, чем займутся люди под стимулятором – это разработают вторую версию стимулятора, лишённую побочных эффектов первой версии, и вот тогда-то все заживём.
Также многие отмечали, что ценность условного Гарварда состоит не в знаниях, а в нетворкинге, это долговременная задача, и стимулятор её не решает. Равно как не решает и множество других задач, вроде заведения долговременного брачного партнёра, выращивания детей, селекции новых сортов баобаба и так далее.
Забавно, как вопрос об ускоряющем жизнь стимуляторе перекликается с другим вопросом, на который я не так давно отвечала – про последствия появления технологии бессметрия для избранных. Давайте и тут я введу дополнительные ограничения. Пусть изготовление стимулятора – дешёвая и легко тиражируемая технология, которую практически невозможно запретить. Также пусть эта технология не предусматривает обходных путей, позволяющих в сравнительно короткие сроки допилить её так, чтобы лишить ключевого неприятного побочного эффекта. Иначе неинтересно.
Как этот стимулятор мог бы появиться? Наиболее вероятно – при разработках в области травматологии или чего-то в этом духе. Долго мучались с животными, не смогли преодолеть эффекта досрочного старения, в конце концов запустили для использования в аптечках в качестве последнего средства, сначала для военных. Если не применить – умираешь через полчаса, если применить – живёшь на сколько-то лет меньше. Потом выздоравливающий со скуки берёт почитать учебник по высшей математике, или, там, руководство по ремонту хаймарсов в полевых условиях – и с удивлением обнаруживает, что материал отлично усваивается. Всё, джинн вырвался из бутылки.
Также вполне очевидно, что стимулятором будут пользоваться раковые больные в любом возрасте. Ещё это более чем оправданное средство от Альцгеймера. Короче говоря, появится вполне значимое количество людей, для которых применение стимулятора будет давать двойной плюс – и продление (или серьёзное облегчение) жизни, и усиление способностей. Вместо того, чтобы жить двадцать лет маразматиком, паралитиком или оперироваться каждые полгода, человек довольно легко предпочтёт десять лет более комфортного старения, сопряжённого с расцветом когнитивных функций.
Более чем вероятно, что стимулятор будет применяться в бедных многодетных семьях. Зачем отдавать дочь на панель или сына на вредное производство, если есть способ вывести всю семью из нищеты с куда меньшими издержками, даже в том, что касается уменьшения ожидаемой продолжительности жизни. Иначе говоря, стимулятор ускорит социальные лифты. У тех, кто имеет приемлемые стартовые условия, стимулов для использования препарата оказывается меньше. Таким образом, стимулятор будет способствовать увеличению равенства, о чём так любят распространяться леваки.
Что касается по настоящему массового перехода на стимулятор – это мне кажется маловероятным. В конце концов – ну вот знаем мы, что в Северной Корее активно применяется метамфетамин для повышения производительности труда – и что? Разве что студенты перед сессией порой следуют этому примеру, но говорить о том, что потребители этого стимулятора прямо-таки вытесняют с рынка труда тех, кто им брезгует, не приходится. Опять же, современные левые правительства куда больше озабочены безработицей, а не производительностью труда. Если какие-то маньяки будут готовы заменить собой целые творческие коллективы – то для выбывших из конкурентной гонки просто сочинят ещё больше bullshit job.
Ну а при анкапе? Не вижу серьёзной разницы, эта технология не ключевая для формирования общества. Разве что bullshit job при анкапе будет существенно меньше, а это значит, что не использующие стимулятор будут иметь менее стабильный заработок, зато смогут наслаждаться более низкими ценами. Впрочем, использующие стимулятор тоже не станут образцами стабильности, ведь стимулятор это больше про сверхусилие, а не про постоянное увеличение эффективности. Так что для рабочих лошадок ниша ещё долго останется достаточно широкой.

День рождения – не только раз в году
Мне тут прислали текст с описанием одного фантастического предположения и вопросом о том, что стоит поменять в человеческих отношениях, чтобы последствия нас не сильно пугали. Итак…
Представьте, что был разработан и стал доступен некий клеточный стимулятор, который за счёт ускорения биологических процессов в вашем организме может очень быстро, буквально за час излечить вас от болезни или травмы, позволить за неделю подготовиться ко вступительным экзаменам в престижный университет или выполнять какие-то огромные объёмы работы в кратчайший срок. Цена этому – ускоренное «изнашивание» организма, визуально и физиологически ничем не отличимое от естественного старения за больший период времени в естественных условиях и, допустим, без каких-либо других побочных эффектов. Воспользовались бы вы такой технологией?
Поначалу вам вряд ли понравится эта идея, но после, возможно, вы подумаете, не стоит ли хотя бы один раз пожертвовать кусочком своей жизни и буквально отпраздновать в один год несколько дней рождения ради какого-то значимого достижения, например, поступления в какой-нибудь Гарвард, что должно обеспечить вам хорошую профессию, блестящую карьеру и высокие доходы на весь несколько уменьшившийся остаток жизни. Но вряд ли вы один окажетесь таким умником, и вскоре осознаете, что при существовании подобного средства в погоне за эффективностью и быстрыми выгодами им могут начать пользоваться многие, сначала в какой-то одной ситуации, а потом ещё и ещё. А значит, оставаться конкурентоспособным в учёбе или работе, не прибегая к этому средству, станет попросту невозможно. А там и работодатели, конечно, при прочих равных предпочтут иметь дело с людьми, которые никогда не болеют простудой, не устают и могут за неделю выполнять месячную норму работы. И вы внезапно обнаружите себя в положении профессионального спортсмена, который понимает, что без допинга победить невозможно, а допинг с высокой долей вероятности лет за пять сведет его в могилу лет или сделает инвалидом.
Как бы вы решили эту проблему? Тупой государственный запрет препарата не поможет. Да государственные агенты и сами будут рады использовать его эффект, прежде всего в военных целях, если речь о других, и для усиления эффективности в политической борьбе, если речь о них самих. Как, вы считаете, необходимо повлиять на человеческие взаимоотношения, чтобы не возникало ситуаций, когда одним людям абсолютно плевать на других людей и они только рады, если те полностью истрачивают свой жизненный ресурс ради их выгоды?

Americana meets the Aussie bush
Trying to get some bread in a cafe on Bellingen's main drag. Once the obstacle course of the packs of dogs on extendable leads are overcome it is time for waiting in a long queue on a Saturday. Many hipster families are there to have breakfast done for them.
One set was showcasing their three toddlers in a full 'American Western-inspired aesthetic', cowboy hats and boots. Mum had that Instagrammable ‘Mar-a-Lago face’.
Wide-brimmed hats are ideal to protect oneself from Australia's sun, but this was in the comfort zone of a cafe.
The "cowboy core" aesthetic facade harks back to the wide‑open‑spaces where cattle-herders (cowboys, stockmen/ringers) managed grazing livestock, for the pastoral industry, particularly in the Australian outback or American Western frontier.
Already in the 16th century, the Conquistadors and other Spanish settlers brought their cattle-raising traditions to Mexico and Florida.
The Western portrayed the cowboy as an enduring cultural figure representing freedom.
So why are these urban folks from the suburbs running around in 'costumes' looking like pastoralist workers from a mythical past? What 'sense of belonging' do they buy?
Maybe the fashionable habitus points to a vibe shift of the wannabe cowboys expressing preemptive subordination or imperial obsequiousness?
