@amedee pre-commit is brilliant, so versatile, I recently wrote about using `pytest-testmon` as a pre-commit hook.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@ctietze/115702384637059415
I have and really enjoyed it. Some really good advice (some of which I already follow e.g. starting with a link).
Thank you @ctietze for taking the time to put the talk and slides together. 🙏

Today #emacs #yasnippet finally "clicked" for me. I'd looked at it previously but didn't spend the time to actually understand how to write them and how they worked (tabbing between fields).

I have the fantastic #difftastic configured as my default in #git
This works well for me 99% of the time but on the rare occasion I need to produce a patch it doesn't.
The solution...add an alias.
```
[alias]
patch = diff --no-ext-diff
```(Thankfully `git patch` isn't taken although `git patch-id` does exist).

Do you think the FAIR principles for Research Software #FAIR4RS are working?
-
Common theme mentioned in two of the talks this morning is involving the public in the planning and conduct of your research which helps make the material and outputs more accessible to the public.

Interesting first session at #OpenFest2024
+ Pushing back against publishers.
+ Sharing ethnographic data in a FAIR manner
+ Sharing your research output in the right manner to maximise reach -
Do you use Python Virtual environments? Want to make your life a little easier?
Checkout this blog post I wrote on using `virtualenvwrapper` to create and manage your Python Virtual environments.
Thanks to @tdjames for proof reading and catching lots of silly errors I'd made

Right, I need a #git #worktree for the current project as I'm having to switch back and forth between two branches to work out why the hell the tests fail on someones development branch and its a pain to have to `git stash` a bunch of debugging on both and switch between them.
Might have to create temproary virtual env's for each but should be considerably less painful

Enjoying playing with #vertico #orderless #embark and #marginalia under #Emacs
Been busy with work but wanted to do some tinkering for myself and they're good. Need to practice and learn a bit more (as I'm not too fussed about making everything align with my expectations and am happy to learn new things).
Also loving how easy it is to rebase branches then selectively push commits to origin using the amazing #magit glad my liberapay went through recently. Thanks again @[email protected] 👍
