Back on the Pilgrim's Way... the last convenient Wednesday tide pattern for a while. I checked, of course!! 😂

St Cuthbert's Cave. This was from a walk back in May. We began at Belford and walked to Holy Island, using my walk/tide calculator ( https://mootparadox.com/webapp/pilgrim/ ) perfect timing and a lovely day out. (Pre-booked taxi back to Belford to complete the route.)

"A geeky solution is always the best solution." I'd like to try the pedestrian Pilgrim's Way crossing over to Holy Island, so I took the natural logical approach of creating a web page to do the calculation for me! 😉

I'd previously shared a photo from St Oswald's at Heavenfields that I took on a GoPro, but last Sunday I had my "BIG" camera! 🤣 This was a handheld long exposure, resting on a pew, that I think turned out ok.

"Crinkle Crags and Bowfell" is my story of last Wednesday's hiking. Some nice photos along the way! 😃👍 #LakeDistrict #Langdale #Hiking

@mootParadox Dear Sir,
This is not an espresso. Please stick to the following hashtags for your milky beverages 😜

Just as I thought I'd got my mind around C-flats and E-sharps, I stumble across this... which I'd been playing as an F#, but the "X" indicates a double-sharp, so it's played like a G natural. Thought it sounded a bit odd while I was looking at the timing of various YouTube performances. 🤔 (The notation for a double-flat is more obvious.)

Another shot from Sunday afternoon, in the dene behind Halton Castle, near the hound kennels. Catkins, presumably a hazel tree? 📷

Sewingshields trig point from this morning... trying not to look cold!! 🤣 It was just fingers (mainly thumbs) that were the problem, and this could be related to a combo of strong/cold winds and Pacer-Poles? Fabulous route though, from Housesteads to Sewingshields, looping up around Haughton Common, and joining the Pennine Way back to the Wall. Beyond Housesteads, we only met farmers and sheepdogs all day! 😅

I suppose I can't exactly claim this photo is much different to my last photo, but it 'IS' a different tree. 🤣📷

Yesterday afternoon's boxing day walk became a bit of a race against sunset! This is with my current default setup: Sony A7cII and a Viltrox 20mm prime fitted with a 1/8th black pro-mist filter. I find the filter very subtle most of the time, but here you can definitely see light spilling around the tree.📷

Unusual choice of Christmas decor... it might have been a mistake to invite this pair into the house!! 🤣

Scaling the North Face of the advent calendar. (Graded: severe, 4a)

Hmm- those rascals!! 🤣 Mrs Elf grinding Mr Elf... actually, perhaps let me rephrase that!! 🤔

Fence on Hadrian's Wall, designed to deter barbaric invaders from walking along the wall?
The path does take you along the top of the wall for several hundred metres here, but either end of the designated section is blocked - presumably to protect more fragile sections of the wall. 📷

Am I unique in my hatred of shirt labels? Someone creates a t-shirt and presumably thinks to themselves: "Yeah, nice shirt, but you know what would make it even better? A stiff plastic label to gouge our customers in the back of the neck... all day long. They're going to *love* that!" 🙄 (It is a good shirt though!!)

Same view as the last post, but taken on a 'real' camera. It's obviously better, although the mobile phone wasn't bad. 📷🤔

"Enjoy the quiet..." while we plaster the FOURTH of these obnoxious notifications all across your screen!! 🙄

Can I still call this 'SilentSunday' if there's a slight buzz and my GPS watch throws a wobbly? 😂📷

East of Corbridge, on the path to Riding Mill. I had to turn back soon after this photo, as the trail was all broken up and it had become a pain to navigate between brambles. The signage I eventually found (behind a wall and facing the wrong direction!) says the path is closed due to river bank erosion - so there!! 🤣

I'm curious if there is some sort of sane reason why the Roman Temple of Mithras has it's alter decorated with a cow, two tangerines, and a small log?! 🤔 #HadriansWall #Hiking #Temple #Mithras
