  1. Minnesotans: please call Governor Walz and express your opposition to this bill.

    Two key points:

    1. It's unconstitutional.
    2. It's mass surveillance, a massive personal data handout to the tech giants, a gross privacy violation, and a catastrophic personal data breach just waiting to happen.

  3. Freedom is just another word for plug-in solar.

"That notion of personal freedom and consumer choice broadened the appeal of plug-in solar. Clean energy policy has become deeply partisan."

  4. As the debate in the Senate wrapped, Sen. Eric Lucero, R-St. Michael, openly worried that personal safety concerns would hinder aspiring leaders. He addressed them directly, saying, “Don’t allow the fear to dissuade because serving in office is incredibly valuable and important for the continuance of our republic.”

  5. You read that right: $100 million.

"The Senate last week passed a bill to spend close to $100 million over the next two years beefing up security at the Capitol, for legislators, elected officials and the judiciary. A smaller but similar bill is pending in the state House."

  7. @mnl
My ignorance is load-bearing. Please respect it.
I have prepared a block and a weak insult, in that order. The insult will involve "techbro" and possibly "slop." It will not be funny but it will be righteous, and that is the same thing

My credentials: I used ChatGPT once in 2024, counted the Rs in "strawberry," and have been seething ever since. You become an expert in a subject by hating it. Everyone knows this

My anti-datacentre blog is hosted in a datacentre. It's one of the ethical ones, because it runs me

I boost every preprint titled "Cognitive Collapse: How LLMs Are Hollowing Out The Something" from the Institute for Studies at the University of I Didn't Check. I have not read them. Reading is what the models do to us. I am resisting

The environmental cost keeps me up at night, specifically on flights, where I have time to think.
I refuse to engage with actual AI regulation because the boosters call regulation-curious people traitors, and I will not be caught agreeing with a booster even by accident

Do not reply. I am not interested

  10. Our Climate Superfund authors are in the strib today, laying out the case for the superfund clearly: you make a mess, you clean it up. Regular Minnesotans shouldn't get stuck with the bill while the fossil fuel companies that caused the climate crisis are let off the hook. #mnleg

  11. @mnl @khinsen @dch yes, I completely agree. I've been developing a #colab since late 2024 at work for one of my projects and it has been a great experience. Adding features and making it reproducible and fast/efficient has been relatively easy, and it can be naturally ported to any workflow engine/pipeline architecture you want if the need arises.

  14. First day of the #Minnesota Legislative Session opened in a good way along with our allies at the Rise and Repair alliance. We’re grateful for their leadership on legislative proposals to protect the land, water, and Indigenous rights.

The Three Waters team is actively pursuing legislator support for two bills that would help protect MN from the risks of oil #pipelines. Join our meeting next Thursday to learn more about our legislative initiatives.

The afternoon honored the late Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark; as well as Senator John Hoffman who returned to session, following the assassination attacks last June. May this legislative season celebrate their service, reckon with their loss, and advance protections for all Minnesotans.

We predicted the trees’ death then.
