  1. @meoutloud @galacticcow @edutooters @edutooter this is sort of in parallel with work we are doing around how we talk to students and what responsibilities we “naturally” take on, and what agency we really allow students. The idea there is that more agency for students AND discussing boundaries needs to go hand in hand (I wrote a very much too long blog post here: unabridgedopinions.com/blog/a-) Have you all heard about #MyFest23 ? This is exactly the sort of conversation that happens there!

  2. @meoutloud @schock

Would something like this work to help us get started?

Also, my capacity will be a bit limited once the next semester starts, so I've reached out to #AlliedMedia and #CaraPage to see if they can recommend someone with the capacity to moderate and/or coordinate virtual programming.

I agree that its important to include many more voices around this topic and it would be nice to work with folks who have experience doing virtual #CommunityOrganizing around #HealingJustice

  3. @meoutloud @theneurotrust hello! Ty for tagging me :) #AlliedMedia started more than 20 years ago f2f and had grown intentionally and organically ever since. #HealingJustice has had growing presence there, including network gatherings, workshops, plenaries, and whole tracks! 4. @meoutloud

Will work on creating a shared doc in the next day or so.

I'm wondering whether it would be helpful to reach out to @schock

I'm wondering whether they can provide any insights about how the #DesignJustice network worked together to structure, #coalition-build and facilitate their movement at the #AlliedMediaConference

I might also reach out to #CaraPage who has an organization on IG to get a sense of what work and conversations already exists around the topic of #HealingJustice

  5. @meoutloud In answer to your question about what it means to practice #HealingJustice in our lives.

I think both individually and collectively we have to build the skillset of #resourcing and building a safe, healthy container where we can hold space to build our #healingintelligence so that we can attend to our #attunementwounds and respond in a way that makes us feel seen and heard

I'm know I'm going to have to provide definitions of the terms that I hash-tagged, but I look forward to discussing the topic further

  9. @meoutloud I just realized we already talked a little about your book and the lineage of authors that influenced it.

Perhaps a better question (and you don't have to be the one to answer this) is how do we approach building an authentic #HealingJustice community within the #Fediverse?

Are there strategies from your own work you've found particularly helpful?

  10. @meoutloud awesome. I would love to build more community around the topic of #HealingJustice

Are there any authors, podcasts, or other resources you've found helpful on the topic?

If so I'd love to hear what you found compelling or useful.

  11. @meoutloud that's awesome. I wasn't familiar with Dr. Nichols but his work definitely sounds in alignment with #abolition and other justice-aligned values.

    I'm a huge fan of #BellHooks & #Freire and adore the work of #AdrienneMareeBrown

#ResmaaMenakem's work is so provocative. I've only read about half of #MyGrandmothersHands (Mostly because i needed time to process) but I really appreciate his candor and the way he addresses how the trauma of oppression gets stored in the body.

His book was the reason I started seeking more information about #somatics and the work #healingjustice practitioners in #movement spaces

  12. @meoutloud I hear your concerns about not wanting to promote -isms within education. For the better part of the last decade (pre-covid) my work focus was split between the needs of profoundly gifted kids (think kids who start college as early as 10) and kids/teens caught up in the juvenile justice system (often mis-served by public school #SpEd). I am extremely sensitive to dismantling the #PrisonPipeline system as well as ensuring ALL #students have the opp to learn. When you think about ... /1

  13. @meoutloud Nice! Your work is incredibly important. I won’t be at ASC. It’s just that as a #CriminalDefenseLawyer, I like to follow #criminology folk because I believe the law should be informed by, like, facts and stuff, y’know!

  15. @schock @meoutloud That's right! I forgot the #AlliedMediaConference had a #HealingJustice track.

I look forward to digging into the material you've shared.

    Thanks for checking in
