  1. @mattwilcox Agreed, I just wished that #Kirby had a similiar way to version, commit and deploy data structure changes in git (with auto-migration of content), like crafts project config yaml. But I guess that's a beast to maintain.

(Disclaimer: I don't love the craft solution with more than 3 devs working on the same project either 100%, due to git conflicts. Got better, but still doesn't feel 100% smooth. 🤷‍♂️)

  2. @mattwilcox yep. #remainsteadfast It realy is down to the foot soldiers on a daily basis to counter thepropagandists.

  3. @mattwilcox Begs the question , why batch cook? No fridge, no freezer. No cans. Buy fresh day 1 or 2 plus dry larder, rice, pulses. Very rare pasta (impossible to find good pasta outside metro areas., IMO). Raised on meat and tatties. #Yam (thta's Wolverhampton hard core).

  4. @mattwilcox if you’ve ever worked in a production cabinet shop, you can appreciate the time savings. Very specific use case, attaching face frames to carcasses. All they need to do is hold the frames until the glue sets. Very speedy and strong. #woodworking #production #mfg

  13. @mattwilcox Oof, this hits hard, because my interest in #accessibility completely agrees with you, but this is such an unpopular opinion that making such a transition will be a long and tricky process (not to say it's not worthwhile), and I'll have to work out how to configure various linters and code formatters to do the right thing.
Have you found code formatters can usually be configured to use tabs without too much trouble?
(In particular, I've not yet worked out if I can make autopep8 or similar go against its grain and *not* just do 4-space indents.)

  14. @mattwilcox I’m mostly (well only) using oklch as the CSS colour model for my own stuff in SVG and HTML these days, it’s interesting how it mixes (or doesn’t) in colour-mixed gradients etc (of course I’ve never seen the results outside of Safari, so maybe it looks different there – maybe it works)

    #CSS #LCH #oklch #colour

  15. The @frontenddogma archives are growing:

They now include past articles from Matt Cutts’ mattcutts.com (37 entries) and @mattwilcox’s mattwilcox.net (31).

There’s no direct way to access content from specific individuals and organizations (you can do that on the respective sites), but many ways to explore:

  16. Haven't been posting much coding stuff this past week as I've found it difficult to focus on it given the state of things in my country 😞

But... I have a new article out!

  17. (Which is not to say that Craft isn't worth the cost - it's a great CMS with an incredible amount of work gone into it... but, there are some projects that simply don't have the budget for it to make sense)

  18. Man, learning a new CMS and trying to work out if the way I think of things from another CMS is a good idea or a bad idea.

Currently attempting to work out the differences and use cases for Kirby's "layout / blocks / structure" types. And how that maps to how I'm used to doing things in Craft - where we have a well established custom Row Builder field that... doesn't work in quite the same way as Kirby seems to.

    Learning is hard, lol.

(Still love Craft: it's just expensive for some projects).

  19. Ah yes. Going to the microwave to make a hot chocolate, then discovering a cold mug of coffee in there, and wondering "how many days has that been in there?"

  20. Ahh, Apple design. So good!

    - I am transferring thousands of photos from on external HDD to another. Because I have my Photos library on an external disk; because it’s too large for Apples’ expensive internal SSD.
    - I’m using Photos the app to import them.
    - I’m 40% through. My laptop battery is at 40% too.
    - I can’t plug in power because there is no power port, and both ports are taken by active external HDD’s.
    - I can’t stop the transfer because there is no pause option in Photos.

  22. #AuraFrames were not prepared for their Christmas success.

Also; I have never heard of “phusion passenger”; but the idea of putting your branding on error pages is probably a bad one. It leads to “the only time I’ve seen this is when stuff wasn’t working, so I guess it’s not very good”
