  1. @madomado
agreed! I really am surprised more people don't use it, especially to host a Static website using Codeberg pages.

  2. just post whatever comes to mind and seems kinda funny
post whatever goofy tech shit you're doing too

the goofy tech shit I'm doing right now is the tedious task of copying gettext translations to fluent

  3. We have already patched this in Terra 39 and it has been merged into our 39 branch.

Stay tune for more fixes… Or maybe if there are no more fixes, then maybe we can finally release UM39

  4. @madomado Um, I don't trust #TEPCO or the government of #Japan. TEPCO has LIED for years about radiation levels. What makes you think they've changed their ways? #TEPCOLies #ExxonLied #Corporatocracy

  5. You may have noticed that on #fedora 43, gstreamer1-plugins-ugly is broken, preventing upgrades.

#terrapkg provides the same working package, so you can add --exclude=gstreamer1-plugins-ugly-1:1.26.7-1.fc43.x86_64 to dnf to fix the issue.

In case you haven't installed Terra, see our
    devdocs.

  6. I think a lot of people in #fedora overlooked how long ago we (#ultramarinelinux and #terrapkg) first adopted #dnf5.
Fyra has adopted dnf5 since the end of 2023, and we have discovered and resolved quite a variety of issues with it, big and small.

    What a journey.

  7. I don't know what's causing an issue (maybe a recent update) but #rnote uses something like 8G mem
could get it back down to around 1G by saving but after using it a bit longer it just gets back up again
Probably has something to do with PDFs and stuff

  8. Terra Advisory

Latest release of dnf5 (5.2.14.0) has introduced
a new regression that might cause Terra to not load correctly.

If you are having this exact issue, downgrade dnf5 using:

    sudo dnf5 downgrade dnf5

    #fedora #terrapkg #ultramarinelinux #dnf #dnf5

  9. Terra users:
if you are having issues with
dnf5 failing to load signing keys, please downgrade dnf5 (dnf downgrade dnf5 -y).

    The issue is documented here:
    https://github.com/rpm-software-management/dnf5/issues/2134

  10. Currently we are having some issues with #GitHub CI where our updates in Terra are not auto-committed properly somehow. Around 10 packages have been stuck in CI and they have been marked as outdated by #Repology.

  11. here comes a real world usage of #anda post_script :3

Apparently blackbox-terminal set the requirement for marble in meson to be >= 42, but the version in terra is 1.3.0

We've tried to manually set the provides for pkgconfig to be 42, but it doesn't override the output of the pkg-config command. (dnf does acknowledge it tho)

So the workaround is to maybe manually override it afterwards? Well we'll see how it goes.

  13. CW: Gigantic Fedora rant

I have just upgraded to 41 and #okular just straight up stop working. Every time I open a file it just pops out an error dialog says Could not open <file>.

So at first I thought… somehow
#KDE decided to ship software without simple testing? Or probably a "it doesn't work on my machine" moment, which would be pretty painful.

Anyhow I opened it from the terminal to obtain the logs, and:

kf.coreaddons: "Could not load plugin from /usr/lib64/qt6/plugins/okular_generators/okularGenerator_poppler.so: Cannot load library /usr/lib64/qt6/plugins/okular_generators/okularGenerator_poppler.so: /usr/lib64/qt6/plugins/okular_generators/okularGenerator_poppler.so: undefined symbol: _ZN7Poppler11AsyncObject4doneEv"
org.kde.okular.core: Failed to load plugin "/usr/lib64/qt6/plugins/okular_generators/okularGenerator_poppler.so": "Could not load plugin from /usr/lib64/qt6/plugins/okular_generators/okularGenerator_poppler.so: Cannot load library /usr/lib64/qt6/plugins/okular_generators/okularGenerator_poppler.so: /usr/lib64/qt6/plugins/okular_generators/okularGenerator_poppler.so: undefined symbol: _ZN7Poppler11AsyncObject4doneEv"
Well it probably has something to do with #poppler. The weird thing is, there is no major version change for poppler between F40 and F41, so supposedly there shouldn't be any breaking changes. I'm also stuck now because there are no downgrades available for poppler.

And then I realized I am not having the latest okular version, so I did a
dnf up, and just remembered I didn't want to perform the update because it pulls in ibus which I really detest.

So I did some digging and SOMEHOW FEDORA DECIDED TO PULL IN
    ibus-anthy if you install langpacks-core-ja.

    They fucking chose
anthy. HARD DEPENDENCY. INSANE. I have no idea why. Probably because they don't like mozc (which uses Qt).

Solution: I removed all the langpacks from my system. Now okular works.

Nice job and thank you spammers (?)

  15. btw I've sped up the mock srpm part in #terrapkg by like 20s, hope that makes some difference

  16. terra is down because tetsudou relies on #cloudflare which is down

  17. Gotta perform some "Terra spree" now that we have 69 issues on the repo

  18. Happy new year! Let's throw away something old:

Terra 39 is now effectively EOL, no backporting will be provided to that branch.
