@kevinmoerman, I have read Mehrabadi and Cowin's paper before but this is my first time reading Helbig's.

I think that I get the idea that only 6 parameters are "material parameters". But then... what should we call the other parameters that "describe" de tensor?

@kevinmoerman reminds me of ferrofluid behaviour in a thin gap in a strong magnetic field.

That has two stable "domains", one with blobs, one with a labyrinth pattern.
