Tomorrow morning (9am PDT, noon EDT, 4pm UTC), I will be giving a #MyFest #MyFest23 session with two students and @harmonygritz titled "Back to Normal?" It will be recorded and published later for those not able to attend. In preparation I created a a blog post outlining my thoughts. Yes two blog posts in one day: https://blog.kenbauer.me/2023/07/17/back-to-normal-back-to-the-future/

It was 3 years ago today we shifted to emergency online mode at the #TecdeMonterrey after a one week intensive effort by faculty and staff to prepare us for it.
Faculty and staff did amazing work these past 3+ years especially considering we were pivoting to "emergency online" while also (for many of us) teaching courses for the first time of #Tec21 programs.
Looking back, I think there should be more recognition of the herculean effort of many to get us to where we are.

Vacation time for the next month, I have a few coding projects lined up as well as developing a #SmallTalk one week course for my #TecDeMonterrey students and colleagues. But mostly I will enjoy some well earned rest.

So if you have not seen it and are thinking about starting your own blog (or going back to writing there), please check out this really well done site that @ben created recently: https://getblogging.org/
I am talking with my students this week about this topic and it reminded me of an interview I did with Ben a couple years back. Where I definitely have "early pandemic hair"

@hacks4pancakes My work is more aligned in #HigherEducation and #DigitalPedagogy and I started looking at Mastodon six years ago since like to check new things. The education people took a serious look here back in April with the first threat of purchase of Twitter. Last month just pushed a larger quantity of that community of people over here. My interest in #infosec was accidental but I suspect that is the case for many in this area. Happy to see you all here as well.

@TheIdOfAlan I remember back in the 90s we would remap keys via emacs configuration files of our office mates in grad school. #GoodTime #GreatMemories

So random #TecdeMonterrey student greets me while I am walking back to the office from lunch with "Thank you. It was a struggle when I was in your class learning to guide my own learning but now it really helps in my other classes" #MadeMyDay #Tec21
